Archos 101 Android Tablet

I just preordered one earlier today, though it doesn't ship until the 29th of this month and is coming from Canada (eh?) It's my Xmas prezzie from the wifey. She knows me too well, I was gonna pick one up on release anyway so she intercepted my train of thought and decided it was to be a gift from her.
Anyhooo, is anyone else getting one of these? They look great, have some good specs and are running 2.2 froyo. This will be my first Android of any type so I better be impressed. I really wanted a Galaxy Tab but this seemed to be just as good.

I, personally, am gonna hold off on buying an android tablet. Android 3.0 is optimized for tablets unlike the other versions so even though 2.2 will be nice it won't be as good as Google intended, these companies just wanted to start selling as quick as possible to compete with the iPad. For that reason I hope you are not put off by this and turn away from android which is a great OS. If it gets updated to Honeycomb when it is released, which they expect to be around February, then it will be good.

I want a tablet now, this seems to be the best of the bunch for me so I won't let that put me off. Plus the wife wants to buy me something and I really don't want for anything other than a tab right now. I wouldn't touch an iPad and this'll really piss off the local macfags when they all get their over priced, bloated ipod touch (ipads) at Xmas and I ask them to show me a flash page on the browser.

it has okey specs but I havent heard of it ever before so i have no clue what to expect..

Small French company, all their stuff so far has been great.

Apparently Flash doesn't run terribly great on Android, but it's probably fine for simpler stuff.
Unfortunately, Adobe somewhat controls Flash, so if their implementation sucks, no-one can do much about it. Still, Adobe do have an incentive to make a good Flash implementation for Android, so maybe it'll continually be improved.

And certainly beats never being able to run it.
