Why not restore and re-jailbreak if you don't have Cydia? No point in Jailbreaking if you can't use it.

I would do that but don't want to mess up the phone as I've hear that if it's unlocked it can do that. Is this true or would I be ok restoring it?

There's always a chance of it screwing up but that's why there's a restore.

So its been a while. But as iphone 3.0 is about to come out I really want to know how my phone is unlocked and if I can upgrade. I have the latest baseband 2.30.03 and from what I've read there doesn't seem to be an easy to to unlock using that.

If I restore I'm afraid I might not be able to unlock it with the latest firmware. Any suggestions and is it possible to unlock in that firmware?
