Made my PSP connect to my website with Lua, pretty nifty. Edited shines WLan script.
Tried getting it to connect to my computer (was running a server I made in C++/WinSock) but I couldn't get it to work- not sure if the problem is the PSP or the server.

If anyones interested in WinSock coding in Lua (or C++) lemme know :P

i'm looking at some WLAN stuff for LUA right now. i don't know too much
about network programming. but i have no interest in winsock. i do want
to do some stuff with LUA, though. maybe a peer-to-peer type application.
if only LUA supported ad-hoc mode. that would be really cool.

i'm gonna see if i can grab a podcast with LUA right now...

ok, so i did some LUA networking stuff. here's the result. if you like
indie music or listen to WOXY (internet radio station) this could help
you out a bit. LUA SCRIPT

maybe i can do something to speed up the transfer because right now it
seems to take a long time to download one session. maybe you could
take a look at it a make a suggestion. i think the best part is the selectable
network connection because all the examples i found just used the first
    one (damn them...)

anyway, if anyone's interested i could package that part of it up as a
function so it could be used like 'chooseNetConfig()' or something.

and to reply to your original post, what code are you using to connect to
your server? maybe you could post it and someone (maybe me, idk?) could
spot the problem if there is one.

well, i coudln't get it to work at first. but i changed to use my wlanconfig
and it worked then. also, i changed the IP so i could use it. i run a
server on my laptop and it's local IP is 192.168.0.100. connected fine.
anyway, here's a link to my modified version of yours and to the
wlanconfig.lua script i wrote along with an example of its usage.

maybe those will help you. i know i got sick of everything using the first
    connection by default.

    I don't see a link? :S
What server were you running? And what port?
    If it's a webserver/port 80 I did that fine. :S

    oooooops. i forgot.

    there you go.

also, i was wondering. do you HAVE to use an ip address to connect a
socket with, or is there a way to use the domain name, like in:
    socket, error = Socket.connect("192.168.0.100", 80)
is there a way to use
    socket, error = Socket.connect("sitename.com", 80)
or something. because i've tried and i can't get it to work like that.
i've been using whois to get site's IP addresses. i'd rather not do that
    if at all possible.

Don't know much about WLan stuff, but im pretty sure WinSock does not resolve host names.

    Edit.
Nm. Damn I think I uploaded the wrong file or something. However, Im not running a webserver (eventually want to make it connect to a game server, thats why im not using port 80) so I used 7654 (one the server uses).
however ill test this out once, lemme recompile server to use port 80.

Edit: negatoro. What server are you using?

Edit....again: Ran the server, and used a port scanner on myself (before and after) and after port 80 was open..so thats a plus.
Guess it's time to run a packet sniffer :S

EDIT: LOL Don't know wtf happened, but all the sudden my server was like

    PSP:
    PSP:
    PSP:
    PSP:

    hm....thats a plus, although I don't know when it happened...hm....

    --edit--
Im getting errors when I exit the program (im using Lua OS not Lowser) and its something about table and getn(). Lemme check.
