Staying on 3.66 hoping for cfw
Like title says, I've decided to not upgrade to 3.66. Will anyone else?
Also there is a DNS trick that allows me to still access the PSN on this now-old firmware.
How long can I expect to be able to continue accessing the PSN using the trick? Will Sony be able to disable it without a firmware update? Thankss.

The DNS bypass should work for around 1 week (Maybe 2 weeks if you are lucky)
I would just like to point out to other users of the forum that the DNS bypass will only work on 3.6x official firmware versions not 3.55 FW.

Staying on 3.66 for nothing, 3.70 is coming out, and if that doesn't have support for the new B.T. headset, then there will be another one shortly after.
There is no reason to not update, there will be no 3.66CFW for a very long time, and by that time? We'll probably be in the 3.7x firmwares, if not 3.8 by then. You may as well just try and purchase another PS3 that you an use CFW on.
Eh, but what do I know, I have been right about everything else; only doubted the first 3.41 hack.

3.70 supposedly has new encryption and new keys so it's possible that a 3.6x CFW could be released even though we're on 3.70. Several people have supposedly cracked 3.60 but were waiting on an OFW with new features before they released it. If 3.70 does have new keys there would be no reason for them to wait for another OFW release with better features since the work couldn't carry over so they may be prompted to just release it (y'know, if they weren't just blowing hot air in the first place).
I'd say give it a month or so before updating and if there are no advancements on the 3.6x front then abandon ship and go to 3.7x. In all honesty, I think Powerslave's right but part of me wants to stay optimistic.

It now says I'm on the latest firmware using the DNS bypass. Does this always happen when you use the trick?
Yeah I'll wait a bit before updating.

If the system thought there was a newer update, it would not let you onto the PSN.

Yeah because it says no updates available even though im on 3.66.
Does Sony end up updating to PSN itself to counter the trick?

Someone said that Sony might ban you if you use the DNS bypass, so I stopped using it anyway lol
-
No they won't. There's no reason for them to ban you with the DNS bypass. Also no one has been banned before for using DNS tricks.
