    Default Re-Marry PS3 blu-ray drive?

    Hi

I've downloaded the files to re-marry the ps3 blu-ray drive (keep getting black screen when i run any homebrew apps etc).

Am i ok to run this on Kmeaw 3.55 cfw?

Do i just put the contents on the usb stick (in no folder) and turn on the ps3?

The guide i got with the files is a bid.....turd so i just wanted to double check with you guys before going ahead with it so i didn't kill the ps3 lol

    cheers

That is a typo on the tutorial..... It should read "Service mode Dongle"

Basically it is a Jailbreak dongle that is flashed with specific files to put the PS3 into service mode.

im still confused as to what this re-marry thing is and how it can fix a dead blue-ray drive...

that link posted by jibbz above doesnt really explain much to me, it just confuses me even more...

can somebody explain the purpose of re-marrying and what it can achieve????

    Hi again Subby lol
logic boards (Located on the bottom of the blu-ray drive ) are locked to the console they come with......

The logic board on the drive is married to the motherboard with a key.

    Before re-marrying was available:
If your logic board died then you would have a worthless console. You cannot just throw in another bluray drive and logic board because the will not match the key on the motherboard.

Then someone posted some files that allows you to bypass this issue.
Now you can re-marry another drive and logic board.

@ super_hoops1967 You should be able to find a compatible dongle for around $10 - $15
If you own a modded PSP you can run a homebrew app that can put the PS3 into service mode.

    ahhh ok, i get it
so if i find another blue-ray drive i would have to remarry the logical board with the blue-ray drive so it works...
so the logical board accepts that there is a new drive in there.

didnt know i can use my modded psp to put the ps3 into service mode
    nice!...now to find a spare ps3 blue-ray drive

thanks jibbz, that makes more sense now

i'm not sure if my drive needs re-marrying....

Basically whats happening is when i put a disc in, the ps3 makes a noise but it's not reading.

it could just be the lazer thats fooked on it.

I've contacted sony & they've told me to call them, not sure how much it'll cost for them to fix it for me tho (out of warranty).
