Internal HDD is a proprietary File System made by sony which is then encrypted.

I use to use WinHiip for PS2 HDD which formats the HDD to FAT32 and patches it with 48bit LBA.
I also recall installing games that were over 4 gigs (God of War 2 was 7.94 GB i believe) all done via usb PC to external HDD using WinHiip.

Im almost done with some other projects before i start testing out getting PS2 games to run on my PS3 via external HDD.
Maybe i could still use some of the old apps.

I guess but aren't ISOs single files or maybe the single files in a ISO can't be over 4gb on a FAT32?

There is no ISO loader for PS3. Figure out how this stuff works before you start questioning us. It's kinda getting old.

Default Extra IDE hdd laying around?

I've had a 30gb and an 80gb hdd laying around and wanted to use them for something so I bought this...

    http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-2-0-IDE-SATA...item3f0a7cf556

It worked good on my PS3 usb. I can back up my games and then store them on my Comp via USB.

Hope this was helpfull to anyone that has a extra HDD laying around.

p.s. I tried to format a SATA hdd to FAT32.. But it doesnt work.. well not for me. But I can convert IDE to FAT32. And my PS3 recognizes it.
