Also so tried to run sports champions but it just booted back to xmb, just noticed that im only getting the green light with the psgroove_backups.hex and if I load the Teensy 1.0 psgroove.hex I get the two leds (red + green) but they both stay on :(
Don't worry about the lights, mines working flawless now since I got my new console through the morning, I think the comment on the lights is based on an LED hex file that can be programmed onto the board and nothing to do with PSGroove.

I think if the game asks for a firmware update, then I think you can edit the file param.sfo and using a file manager or ftp program (instructions in the forum somewhere).

If a game asks for an update, sometimes you can skip it (like on Killzone 2).

Sports champions is listed in the compatibility list as working on both internal and external drives perfectly.. so I have no idea about that. Anyone any ideas?

And yeah.. don't worry about LEDs. If it works, who cares :)
    Thanks, Dan

When mine boots both Red and Green are on, the the red one goes out.

Q1. Are you guys leaving your ps3 connected to the internet for the game to know there is an update available?

Just curious as I thought the done thing was to disable internet access while running the JB

Yeah mine worked fine with the psgroove_backups.hex loaded into it (green light only), then you got me all worried saying you were having issues so I loaded the teensy hex file into it and that works fine too.

Q2. Is there any other reason to run psgroove1.1 other than backup manager v2? I'm a bit reluctant to try v2 due to the problems reported, although booting without a disc would be nice.

Trolling through the site can a bit of a informaion overload so having this tutorial was great, Thanks danieljamie69

    Cheers!

Thanks Dan!! Too easy. Only issue i had was FW was at 3.40, lol could have sworn i had 3.41 installed.

Anywayz after a few tries worked out the FW issue and updated to 3.41.

Also for people looking for different hex files. I have tested both and they work. Link below
Please delete if i am not allowed to post this. I didnt want to just link the files since he took the time to post them. Lights all work on these

Just scroll down to Sniffynose post. He has posted links to the hex files. On this site.----

-Psgroove 1.1 Maximus Board (LED Patched, Red while hacking, Green when done)
-Psgroove 1.1 Maximus Board (Hermes Build with same LED Patch as above)

-Psgroove 1.1 Minimus Board (LED Patched, Green = Power on, Red = Hacking, Blue = Finished)
-Psgroove 1.1 Minimus Board (Hermes Build with same LED Patch as above)

-Maximus LEDs.h file, so you can use the patch in your own future builds.
-Minimus LEDs.h file, again for use in your own builds.

Still any solution to playing games higher than 3.41? I know in the future there might be a way, but what file manager program are you talking about and did it work for you with Tiger Woods?

Internet connected does not matter. Whilst on fw 3.41, sony will not allow the sign in to playstation network anyway.

Keep psgroove v1, backup manager v1. No need to upgrade it until something big comes out (like service mode?)

I haven't personally tried running a game that needs a higher firmware. I just read somewhere on here that the bypass is to edit the param.sfo file.. Maybe someone else can enlighten us on this :)

Check the downloads section for file managers / ftp programs. Also, may be info on ps3hax regarding playing games requiring higher fw.

If anyone can try loading these games.. let me know and I can update this tutorial...
    Thanks, Dan

    hey Dan,
i ordered a minimus board today. they got them back in stock at acidmods. with the 2 day shipping, i should be getting it on monday. so i was thinking, "hmm.. how do i use it?" did a quick search on here, and found this tut you made. THANK YOU! this is exactly what i was hoping to find. a quick, easy, step-by-step guide with download links included. its well written and im sure i wont have any trouble with this, thanks to this tut.
the only question i have as of now is about the psgrooves... whats the difference between 1.0 and 1.1? and what is this Hermes thing? I know all this has been on the front of this site. but between all the stuff thats coming out everyday, and being kinda busy now in my own life, i cant keep track! lol.
    thanks again dude!

oh.. one other question; when you put backup manager pkg file on a usb flash drive, do you leave the minimus in the ps3 and use the other usb port for the flash drive? or do you remove minimus, then put the flash drive in and install the pkg? and installing that .pkg, is that a one-time deal?

lol thanks ERIFNOMI. okay so as far as my questions go, im still wondering if i should use psgroove, or the psgroove hermes payload v2. from what i read, the hermes v2 fixes controller issues in some games. i was not aware of such issues. is that the only reason to use hermes v2? which psgroove would you guys recommend?

as far as my other question regarding backup manager, after more searching, i think ive got it figured out. the pkg file goes on a usb stick, and once you boot your ps3 with the minimus, you can remove it, or leave it in. doesnt matter. either way, you put your usb stick in the ps3 and install the pkg file. then thats it. you dont need to do that again. same goes with other pkg's, like the ftp server and all that.

is this correct? again, i appreciate your help and suggestions.
