    Anyone play these games?

apparently they are really popular in Japan, and supposedly quite good...

I'm just curious if knowing japanese is a pre-requisite for playing them...

I've played them all, and i'm currently playing Pawa Puro 3.

They're a lot of fun to play, and don't let the big headed Cartman midget characters fool you, they are serious baseball sims, and the best batting interface i've ever seen in a baseball sim.

For the most part, you will be able to pick it up and play it.

As far as navigating menus, there are many options, but you shouldn't have too much trouble, as most of them have images related to them. Through trial and error you shouldn't have too many problems figuring out what each option is for.

The only problem you might run into is playing career mode, which plays more like a traditional RPG.

Having zero knowledge of the Japanese language could pose a problem with this element of the game.

Controls are standard fare, and similar to most baseball sims.

The batting interface is basically a reticle you control with the analog stick, so you can track the pitch and line it up with the reticle.

Hitting right trigger switches to a "power swing" reticle, which is much smaller, but if you line it up correctly when swinging, you'll go yard.

You're also able to shift the defense while in game, while holding left trigger, and using X, [], /\ and O for various options. Holding R trigger and hitting select and your pitcher will pick up the resin bag.

Once you get used to playing it, you won't be able to stop. Trust me.

You will never play MLB 08 again once you play this.

If you need help with some of the menu options, let me know.
