I hope this becomes a "Tips and Tricks" post instead of a "I need help and no one answers" one.

I have a $400.00 system setup in my escort wagon (YES a wagon) and I would like to hook up the PSP to my system. (BTW I built this system so I know how to work on them and how they work.) Problem is that my stereo does not have a input on it (like some do) that I can just use a patch cable to hook up with. It does not have the preamp RCA inputs on the back either. I would like to know how you guys do it and if there is a way for me to get it to work using basic headphone jack patch cables.

BUT, I don't need any "use an FM tuner" posts; I spent $40.00 on one and its crap. None of the presets are clear and it does only broadcast in 64kbps "FM" frequency, which is technology that should have died with BETA tapes.

    Thanks for your help.

Thanks for looking but I sont have an input on my stereo to begin with. and the link off that to hard-wire one was for a Saab stereo, and if I had one of those I wouldn't need to ask this, I would just buy a stereo. ;)

But im looking for a radio-shack low cost, hard-wire project. If you want the model of my stereo I can give that. Ty for ur help

mean people suck. I don't think there is an option for you my friend since you have no inputs and no cassette player - probably just a CD player. I say you buy a new player with Aux ports. in the back (or front is even better) and route them to the front for easier access. I think that is really good sound quality, isn't it? I know for sure it is more than the tape and the radio method.

I'd say your best bet is to use an FM Transmitter. I know you don't like them but it may all you can do. I used a AM Transmitter so how do you think I feel? :(

This would probably work, but be very dirty.

You could get one of these then get a RCA av switch like this .

Then you could plug both the radio and psp into the av switch and the output into the amp. Then again this would only be playing on your subs.

If you really wanted to get crazy you could get a box that takes RCA in and gives you analog speaker outputs. Then you could connect the output from the av switch to a RCA Y adpater make one side go to your amp and the other side go to that RCA to analog box, then wire the analog box to your interior speakers and you would be set.

Now thinking about it this doesn't sound like too bad of an idea and would work with pretty much anything (psp, iPod, dvd player, ect. )...assuming you were too cheap to just go out and buy a new head unit with an aux in port.

But this would most likely cause a lot of loss in sound quality and hell I don't even know if the PSP has a strong enough audio output to push the amp....this was just a theory I came up with when I first got my iPod.
