    what does the umd do. i know its a dumb question.

    i think it has to do with the encryption, not really sure

    yeah ive wondered this to because i really want to play coded arms but do not have any of those UMD's

    PS is anyone working on getting coded arms to run without a UMD im sure someone is but i wonder how far off it is.

    It is to do with the UMD checks that the games contain, after the game boot file boots it will check to see if the game is a UMD and if it is true it will load.

    If it isn't loading from the UMD then it will fail and the game will not load. As far as having certain UMD games to load a specific game will have something to do with the encryption or a UMD code of some sort that the developer of that game has been given and that must be checked to be on the UMD in order for it to be recognised and thus it loads...


    Obviously I am guessing but say a loader was out for Ridge Racer a game made by N maybe only Ns games will launch their game so u must have a game on UMD made by N

    it gonna be kinda funny if alot of great games need at crapy UMD game to run it on the mem stick PPL will be like WTF this game suxs but yet ppl are buying it like crazy :lol:

    Yeah, that will certainly screw up their marketing reports! :D

    I'm sure they'll figure out a UMDless solution soon enough. It's already been done once.

    I'm sure once they figure it all out they'll start releasing ISOs ready to go and patched up.

    I think the encryption differs slightly for different games and for now, we need to use the encryption from a UMD that has is the same as the game from the ISO.
