Ok so i plan to buy a 1.5 firmwared PSP + 1gb memory stick and id like to know where might i get them while saving some money aswell. I do plan on buying a used one or a returned one at first because they are significantly cheaper. The only problem is I dont knw where to start. Im pretty sure there are a lot of 1.5's out there in less popular stores such as zellers but i want to buy a cheap one at the same time. Can anybody suggest where?

Also, there seem to be a lot of cases of dead pixels, is there a way to fix them? I heard there is a program to fix these pixels, or should i just return it. And please tell me where to find a cheap memory stick, i dont want to go online cause of all the shipping hassling and incase its defected, i want to be able to return it fast.

help me out people :? thanks in advance

whoa i was expecting PSPs to be about $400, well i guess it is kinda. well the cheapest stcik ive found is for $125 at canada computers (guess im making a trip to p-mall soon =/).

I just want something clarified though- PSP will only read "Memroy stick PRO DUO" right? beause ive found some "memory stick PRO" which is a lot cheaper but i dont think theyll fit into a PSP without modification correct?

I live like really close to PMall :) Im guessing the cheapest place is Walmart, my friend said there are alot of 1.5s there. The cheapest ones would be around 299$, at Pmall there are bundles and stuff u can get but its more expensive.

the Sony Store in the Eaton's Center has 1.50's in stock still. check for the letter "A" on the box - just ask the sales clerk to see some of the boxes before buying.

for the 1GB stick, head down to Spadina and College - there's a factory direct on the north side of college. they're about $120 there - cheapest I've seen in Toronto anyway

Hey Alias, I'm in your same situation.

I'm hunting for v1.5's, and I've pretty much given up on Futureshop. I'm going to check out the local walmart in scarboourgh, and keep hunting 'till I find one.

I'd advise you not to touch open boxes because almost ALWAYS the previous owner of them have already updated the firmware, so try to stay away from them even if they are cheaper. (also, u spending a lot of money on this psp...you dont want someone's returned psp. runs risk of scratched screens, etc etc....)

Also, you MUST buy a PRO DUO.....if it only says "Pro", dont touch. PSP only uses smaller pro duo format. I suggest going to canadacomputers and getting the sandisk 1 gig pro duo memory stick (124.99 CAD), the transparent yellow one. Check out www[dot]canadacomputers[dot]com.

What I ended up doing was buying a psp v1.51(didnt do my research), exchanging it at FS for an open box (refunding me $35), then exchanging the open box for a brand new one, and I didnt have to pay the $35 difference...haha. basically made 35 dollars.

Now im frantically looking for a 1.5,,,,futureshop are pretty much out of 1.5s...from the 4 i checked anyways.

Well i just bought a 1.5 firmware at zellers in perfect condition ^__^ (well 1 very small dead white pixel at the top right but very unnoticable). I went to the one at the plaza in Victoria Park and Danforth Ave. But you have to make sure you get the one with an "A" underneath the 120v sign. Because i just bought one today and they had some "B"'s but you have to ask them if they have one with an "A" underneath. There seemed to be a lot of 1.5's left, just make sure you check the "A"

Its kind of funny though cause the lady was asking why I wanted an "A" and i just tried to be smartass and said that its better. She looked at me suspiciously and said "well im gonna find out why". I ended up getting it and was in great condition.

One thing that im kinda pissed at is that i expected there to be atleast a USB connector for the memory stick via psps with the pack i bought but now i have to buy one. Which brings up another question, Should i buy one that connects to the PSP or a memory stick reader/writer itself? and where might i find a cheap one

hey...Ye, they asked me too about the A. I was frank and explained it to them (most of the clerks were my age) so they didnt care.

gona head over to walmart right now and pick it up.

As for the usb cable, get the USB MINI B 5-pin. (connects straight to your psp into your comp)

    dont get card reader.

again, i suggest heading over to canadacomputers to pick up your memory card and cable as they are most likely the cheapest.
