Iím interested in a portable hard drive feature than anything else. I say forget the efforts of a downgrade. Lets get started on a bootable USB drive feature. Rather than waste time on coding a nonfeasible downgrader, lets see the masterminds apply their knowledge, skills, and precious time on a function that allows you to actively load data from the USB port in real time.

Letís not subvert to the consumer raping that is going on by these manufacturers of Duo-Pro memory sticks. For the same price you can purchase an external HD shell and a 80GB drive running at 7200rpms.
Iíve got my old METAL GEAR 80GB external HD sitting here, welcoming a home for PSP ISOs, movies, images and such.

Is this possible? If you need me to elaborate please

Thatís all I have to say for nowÖ..Anybody with me on this?

Merely hooking a portable HD won't do any good. We need to be able to access the USB in place of a memory stick. You want to create a modification to the firmware to make it think it's activating the Memory slot but it's actually reading and writing to the USB (external hard drive).

As for powering the Hard Drive - I believe this is possible. I'm sure it will create a huge damper on the battery's power supply. I'd be content with merely plugging in the HD to an AC socket. Those mini 2.5" external hd's run off of USB 2.0 power.

C'mon WAB crew....I challenge you all to create something this useful!

Imagine how pissed Sony would be then? hahahah

This idea might be possible if anyone would take the time to hack the RCA Lyra RD2780.

Think of it as a portable Hd with a screen.

WE NEED TO REALLY PUSH THIS CONCEPT!!!

Think of the advantages it would bring to us if we didn't have to use those flimsy cards. A mobile 80gb hard drive with all the content we need!

Anybody know some geniuses that would be willing to invest their precious time and research the possibilities and be willing to conceive such a concept?

it needs a power source and an app that makes the psp think the hdd is a ms duo, but both are huge problems.

it's impossible, as the PSP is not a USB Host, it's a USB Slave. you can't
change that, either. it's in the hardware. sorry. about as close as you're
gonna get to what you want is using that 80 gig hard drive with an external
enclosure and a USB-on-the-go host device.

but, push the idea as much as you want. i'm just letting you know it can't
    be done.

To the post above me, you are an idiot.
Yes, it is true, the USB drive is a slave, that has been proven many times before.
However, there are many hardware mods being made which would allow you to use a USB drive in place of the memstick.

Team X still hasn't released theirs, but someone else was working on one too.
