Jockyw has translated JiniCho’s previous release of the PSP Media Center v0.0.5 which was originally created in Korean using ffmpeg. PSP Media Player is a media player which is capable of playing AVI (DivX and XviD)/OGG/WMA files, especially DivX AVI files at 480x272 full resolution of the PSP. Information about this release:

    Controls:
    - D-pad Left: Rewind
    - D-pad Right: Fast forward
    - Select (in main menu) - select to play 1) video or 2) music
    - Square - back to main menu
    - Start - exit the program (don't do this while playing, or you will suffer a crash)

Place the AVI files in the /PSP/VIDEO folder.

This is most likely a newb ? but does this mean I can play more than MP4's?

xvid is an ASP encoder (MPEG4-Part 2) and the videos supported by 1.5
psp's also are ASP. a 480x272 avi will be significantly larger than an MP4
file of the same video. firstly, the psp will only play videos from the memory
stick at a maximum pixel count of 76800. a video with 480x272 res has a
pixel count of 130560. then, take into account that the AVI container format
SUCKS BALLS compared to the MP4 container and has a lot more overhead.
but i could have skipped that and just answered NO! i thought maybe some
body would want to know why.

plus the "psp media player" hasn't played anything that i've tried without
lagging horribly. there's really no need for an application like this, just
stick to using the psp's internal video playback features and you'll be
    better off.

You forgot Triangle puts the PSP at 333 Mhz when playing a video. This reduces lag GREATLY.

it speeds it up, but not all the way. it has potential. i think it was released
    prematurely.
