    isnt there one way or another to just make a totally new firmware that will work for all homebrew and such,or is that what a mod is for?youd think that you could use some files assosiated with another firmware update so the psp thinks it needs one,and just create a whole new firmware.(just speculating)

    psp 1.50-3.01-3.03-1.50-3.02 oea-3.03 oea-3.03 oe-c....YAY!!

    Don't exactly understand you. There was some development in a firmware, built from ground up, but I think that's stopped.
    For now, we have 2.71 SE.

    yeah just wonderin if instead of update version 3.01 or whatever you could make godfirmware version 1.0 or something,(whatever name)to totally overwrite the firmware currently on the psp that would work for homebrew apps and all games,movies etc.also whats the best firmware,2.71,or 2.71 se

    Sony put a lot of restrictions on the PSP, even if you own 1.5 / 2.71 SE or w/e. More than likely, if you try to make one that overwrites an official Sony firmware, It will most likely result in a brick. There has been custom firmwares, but they used the official Sony firmware as the base to make custom firmwares. If you are running 2.71 SE however, it is basically what you described and people like Dark_Alex are trying to make something like a 3.0X SE, but it takes a lot of decrypting. And even though this is my first post here, I have been keeping an eye on the PSP homebrew community for over a year.

    My PSP: 2.00===>2.60===>2.70===>2.71===>1.5===>1.5 w/ Devhook .44 w/2.71===>3.02 OE-B===>3.03 OE-C===>3.40 OE-A

    Oooh another one of those, "use an update to downgrade" type ideas - #46.

    This can't be done becase we don't have Sony's encryption key.

    And what would you do with this "totally new firmware" that SE doesn't already have?

    yea, harleyg and his team were working on that thing, forgot the name... it didn't look like it was gonna get anywhere from the start, harleyg is a pretty good coder, but he is a bit noobish. i remember when LordSturm tried telling him that loading a .PBP on bootup was NOT a firmware, rather, a shell, and harleyg kept arguing over it... :rolleyes:
