As you all know, there are three motherboards so far for the PSP. TA-079 (the original), TA-082 and TA-086

I've tried downgrading my friend's black 2.80 psp with the german easy downgrader, however, it said the psp was not a TA-079. I checked to make sure it wasn't TA-082 and the numbers weren't there. Could it be a TA-086? I thought those were only for pink psps?

first off, there are FOUR mobos. TA-079, TA-081, TA-082 and now TA-086. I doubt it is a TA-086, those are pretty rare. Hard to see how 0okm got one so quick :/. Anyway, Open the UMD Drive, and look on the RIGHT side of the drive right above the opening. What number do you see? If it says IC6001, you're fine. If it has IC1003, you have either TA-082 or 086. To tell, run the 2.8 to 2.71 downgrader. Then use the 2.71 TA-082 downgrader. Run the idstoragechange app on the 2.71 (used before the ta082 downgrader process). If it starts, then u have TA-082 and you have a changed IDStorage. That means you can downgrade. If it says 'you dont have ta-082', then its a TA-086. Sry if it is. Try hard-downgrading it.
