So much information on here, not sure which way to go next, I have the 2.71 with the dreaded motherboard, I've sucessfully downgraded to the 1.5 and have put some homebrew games on there and love it, but I can't play some of my newer store bought UMD's so I'm guessing that I need a newer FW, what should I get? I also want to be able to back up my current UMD's just incase they get messed up. If you could point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it!!!
thanks for all of the info on this site, it's trully a goldmine!!

You could always use DevHook 0.51 or upgrade to DarkAlex's Custom Firmware 3.10 OE-A and they use both 1.5 and 3.11 FW's

Yes. Go with a custom firmware (3.10 OE-A has the best game compatablity so far). As for backing up games, just search the site. There a quite a few of them out there.

Thanks for the quick replies!
Is there anything that I have to do special that I have to do to go to that FW? Can I go straight from the 1.5 to the the 3.10 OE-A? Is there a tutorial showing how to do it?
Thanks again!!

You can go straight to 3.10 OE-A from 1.5. Check the tutrorials section for one.
*EDIT*
I had nothing better to do so here you go.
