Use a cloth, like the ones to clean glasses, before and after the 'operation'

Work on a matte, smooth surface (which should be cleaned before hand)

Ensure that your hands are really really clean before you start

Dont work in some stupid place like a cellar. Work where the atmosphere
    is fresh and clean

Clean in, around, on, inside, underneath and everywhere about the area
in which you are going to work.

    Just common sense really.

I don\'t give a crap about your firmware history

Go into the bathroom and turn on some hot water, make sure the walls don't get wet or when you think they are stop the hot water. Let the air cool and the mositure go away, then open it up and install it. This will take the dust out of the air as much as posible. I would read more in google and see the best ways to prep that...

    Man your dumb!
Wearing a glove would only increase the chance of killing the motherboard inside the PSP. While wearing a glove you will build up a charge outside it and thus will emit a spark whilst touching the circuit, which might destroy the circuit and thus it will not work.
It's all physics, the chapter of Static Electricity...I just studied it so that I won't do something bad whilst changing the Motherboard of my old PSP (which I will do when the Mobo arrives)

Btw you can still emit a spark even without the gloves. The only way to evade this problem is by standing bare footed on the floor (not a carpet! a carpet will only increase the charge). Therefore you will 'Earth' the charge.

Hope I have thought you a lesson!

(Btw, FYI, my dad's a Physics Teacher...That's why I know this)
