    hmm i just got my psp about a week ago.. as i browsed thro the forum, i noticed alot of ppl dont run thier cpu at full speed... heres a couple of questions i have.

    1.wat kind of game that would requre the psp to run at 333mhz? can someone provide a list?
    2. is goin the the recoverying menu and change me speed the only way to do it? is there a safer way?
    3. is there any harm besides losin battery fast when runnin psp at 333mhz?
    4.and this last one concerns me the most... by change the speed where the cpu run at, is there a chance it would fuck up my psp? like brick it, or mess up the internal hardware...stuff like that.

    p.s: sorry bout the title, lol wanted some pro opinion on this :D

    PSP phatty: 1.5---->2.71---->3.03oe-c---->semi brick---->3.51 m33----> 3.52 m33---> $140

    ^^Yup, totally safe (as far as I've heard everywhere)
    Going into recovery mode to change it isn't dangerous at all.
    No official PSP games run at full speed. 266 is the highest any game needs. We use 333 to make it a lot smoother and cooler. I noticed a BIG difference. It's totally worth it.

    You can also change it at almost any time (except while in homebrew games) with the plugin called irsMP3 (ask for it if you want it)

    bottom line, safe...it was made to run that high

    Just be careful running wifi at the same time. PSP can get mighty toasty.

    the PSP CPU is one of very few CPU's made that are intentionally designed to clock up and down on the fly depending on workload.

    PC CPU's can do it also, but not to the degree that the PSP can, it can go from 10% of the max capable speed to 100% with no risk of cpu damage.

    *EDIT*

    PC CPU's that can change voltage, Core speed, and Frontside bus sped are using a technology called "spread spectrum"
