Okay, this is kind of an off-the-wall question...

Many playstation games (usually rpgs) have a feature where when you hold a button, it changes d-pad movement from walk to run.

But, when you walk with the left analog on the dual shock, you automatically run without having to hold down a button. A feature which isn't matched when playing the game on PSP.

My question is whether or not there is a way to also do this on the PSP. Or why it doesn't do this, or how the dual shock knows to do this automatically.

It depends on the game...for example, Chrono Cross(or some other rpg, forgot which one exactly) have the option to set to either "run" or "walk" and if you set it to run and just move the analog then there u go...

Good question maybe, but silly as well

I Think it all depends on the developer on how to control scheme will be

About your dual shocks thing, the developers made the analog stick to be so. The dual shocks do not just "magically and automatically" do that.

When it comes to PSP, the developers made a "different" scheme for different controlling

    There....

No, see the reason for this, even though you are using the PSP's joy stick to play the PSX game, its only emulating the D-PAD on the PSX paddle, the actually analog stick is not being emulated, so the PSX recognizes your PSP analog nub as just a D-PAD....
