    This has confused me from the beginning, because the only people who brick their PSP's are the ones who hack them...against Sony's will. So why do they feel as if they should create an unbricker to help them out? After all, they dont want the PSP's to be hacked but now they are helping it progress?

    when doing a real updates for thepsp(Sony's update) and something happens
    the psp is bricked so the Unbircker is for Sony to fix it

    PSP 1.5 got on USA first day is was 1.5 NOW 4.01 M33-2 -> 5.00 M33-6(1.50 addon),
    Old PS3s: PS3 60GB FW:3.41(2nd ps3 YLoD, 1st, YLoD)
    New PS3:
    Slim 160gb 01-21-2011 Working
    was 3.40 OFW->3.60 OFW

    2nd PSP : PHAT 5.50 GEN-D2
    3rd PSP : Sliver 3000 Starting OFW:4.20 (NEW bought NEW on 11/28/2010)
    It a good idea to have "Hide extensions for known file types" in Folder Options(under Tool) unchecked (turn on extensions)

    In the other thread about the unbricker, the one with the images of it, why does the battery have a screen? And how would a special battery help in the first place?

    Well for one if some kid is updating his psp to an official firmware and bricks it, he can then check if he has a warranty, then send it in to have it all nice and fixed up by Sony.
