    I think it's called bricker.trojan (?) ... I know it was merged with some of the earyler custon frimwares and uploaded on a few sites... Then the noobs shared it on p2p programs (DC++, eMule, XDCC and so on) and quite a few people bricked their shit. It was programmed to shutdown the machine after a week or so.

    it doesnt shutdown the machine, it would probably delete the flash

    i remember norton finding a couple of virus in MPH downgrader that i got from here..

    well those r not viruses because after the trojan brick virus many antivirus softwares saw legit stuff as viruses cause of similar type of file

    Virus Characteristics
    This trojan purports to be a firmware hack for the Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP). This trojan deletes files which are needed to start the machine.

    When run, a message is displayed:

    PSP TEAM 2.0 Exploit Hack the 2.0 firmware
    Thank's to toc2rta for the 2.0 exploit

    The following files are deleted:

    /vsh/etc/index.dat /kd/loadcore.prx /kd/loadexec.prx /kd/init.prx Then a final message is displayed:

    Your 2.0 is hacked please reboot
    Thank you PSP Team the french team
    F*Ck yoshihiro and SonyxTeam Looser

    (content modified with *)

    Indications of Infection
    The previous messages will be displayed The PSP will not restart after the trojan is run
    Method of Infection
    Trojans do not self-replicate. They are spread manually, often under the premise that the executable is something desirable.

    Norton did show the real MPH downgrader as a virus. When I first got my PSP I was afraid to downgrade it at first because of this.

    exactly, it deleted the overflow pic because it had code signed into it. norton saw it as a threat.....
