...and it was by far the most difficult and stupid thing I have ever done with this little machine. The screws Sony uses to hold their stock faceplate down are ridiculously small, and incredibly prone to stripping. The metal the screws were made of had to be some uber-soft rare space metal that would strip if unscrewing was attempted. I broke one of them and stripped another out. Terrible idea.

Just a word for any of you who are thinking of doing the same.

Changing the faceplate on the PSP is one of the easiest things you can ever do.

    with the right size screwdriver
    it works fine

sound like your screwdriver was too big and you ended up just stripping it

    Everyone laugh at the screw-stripper.

    Meh.

But seriously, always make sure you have the correct size screwdriver.

The screwdriver was the correct size my friends. I'm not a moron, nor am I a noob so please, save your simple-minded drivel for you and your fellow pre-teen 'psp gods'. All I was doing was posting a heads up for those who may be interested in swapping faceplates.

You're the first person I've heard to have a problem, here's some possibilities:

    - Wrong size screwdriver
    - You're a moron
    - You're unco
    - You weren't in fact opening a PSP, but something else

if your stripping screws then you dont have the right size screwdriver

I remove the screws plenty of times with a right size screwdriver perfectly fine
