I'm on 3.40 OE-A and I'm satisfied with my psp right now.
but IR shell is very popular and I haven't used it yet. Why would it be necessary and how does it benefit?

Oh and does IR shell 3.8 work in 3.40 OE-A?

You can move, cut, paste files from ir Shell. You can launch homebrew, ISOs for there, play MP3's, (if using PSP Fat) use the infrared at the top with the right remote code to change TVs. You can read .txt, PDFs etc. It's a good alarm clock (yes it will turn on will it's on sleep mode) :mrgreenthumbsup:

I guess there is more, but it's all I can think of

It takes about 30-60 megs and yes it works on 3.40 oe a.

I haven't quite figured out all the nooks and crannies. infact, I set the alarm to go off, and when it did, I couldn't get it to stop untill i turned off my psp =(. It has a ton of potential, but im still messing with it.

apparently you can use the wifi to load roms from your PC hard drive onto homebrew. you can also use the psp as the controller. you might be able to load your PC games onto a psp, but I'm not sure. lemme know what you come up with, I'm having some probs :mrgreenthumbsup:

I don't thinks so. I didn't. It doesn't really install itself, you just move some folders, like you would with a homebrew emulator.

Just install IRShell 1.81. You can play 2 player psx games via adhoc, you can load homebrew, ISO's, and PSX games from your PC via USB and WIFI, as well as transfer files via USB or WIFI to and from you PC. If you want to load games via PC, download PSPHost 1.8, thats what I use and it works great.

Irshell has a RAR/ZIP extractor, PMP Player, you can transfer files between 2 PSP's, Alarm Clock (of course), you can play MP3's wile playing a game, IR Remote, it can also read PMF, AVC, PMP, AT3, ZIP, RAR, TXT, PDF, HTM, HTML, CBZ, CBR, and OGG extensions. You can also chang skins.

Just make sure to install the 3.XX Eboot, not the 1.50, or USB Host and NET Host wont work. And to play games via NET Host (WIFI from PC) then you need to configure you router from the IRShell Cinfiguration menu.
