    Go Ahead Enjoy!!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------
    1.5 Section
    1.5

Summary: The so called "Ultimate Firmware." For the past year-and-a-half this firmware has been the most desired for most PSP users. Here, we have full kernel access, a recovery mode, custom PRX loading, and many flash modifications. Most homebrew works on this firmware, except for TIFF homebrew. As of this time, this firmware does not support many media formats. It only supports MP3, MP4, and JPEG. However, there is an application called Devhook that allows the emulation of firmwares 2.0 to 3.02. But, due to Devhook being on the memory stick and not on the on board flash, certain features such as the web browser become sluggish. There are also certain bugs with Devhook, such as some users may have a problem with loading bookmarks.

    Pros:
    Custom PRX loading.
    Flash Modifications.
    Recovery Mode.
    Complete Kernel Access.
Able to emulate firmwares 2.0 to 3.02.

    Cons:
Barley any media formats are supported.
It takes time to load Devhook to emulate firmwares.
    Picture scaling is slow.
    No web browser.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------
    SE/OE Section2.71SEA

Summary: This firmware is a newcomer to the scene. It was made by Dark_Alex, uber PSP coder and uber h4xor. In this firmware, DA combined both the kernel of 1.5 and 2.71. This allows for the executions of all homebrew, including KXploited homebrew and TIFF homebrew, plus the normal features of 2.71, such as the browser, media formats, and RSS channels. However, this firmware has bugs. They are minor, but can be devastating. I bricked my PSP and was not able to recover it. But, I still like this firmware. Another problem with this firmware was the need to "fix" certain homebrews, such as IRShell and Squarez. This process is simple however, only needing a download and a few clicks. Also, in this firmware, there isn't much space left on the flash, so be wary of flash modifications. There is also no custom PRX loading and recovery mode is built in.

    Pros:
    Most media formats supported.
Execution of all homebrew, including TIFF.
    Recovery mode is built in.
    Complete Kernel Access.

    Cons:
    A few bugs.
    No custom PRX loading.
Not much space left on the flash.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------
    2.71SE-B

Summary: I'll make this short and sweet. It includes all pros of 2.71SEA and adds a few, such as bug fixes, and built in ISO loading. No cons are added.

    Pros:
    All pros of 2.71SEA
    Built in ISO loading
    Bug fixes.

    Cons:
Most cons of 2.71SEA (Bug fixes were made)
    --------------------------------------------------------------------

    2.71SEB'

Summary: Not much is added. The ISO folder glitch is fixed, and for you pirates out there, you can now load ISO's and CSO's with the need of a UMD.

    Pros:
    All pros of 2.71SEB.
ISO/CSO loading without the need of a UMD.

    Cons:
Most cons of 2.71SEB. (ISO folder bug is fixed.)
    ----------------------------------------------------------------

    2.71SEB"

Summary: Quick update to fix some problems with NO-UMD mode. It only focuses on the NO-UMD mode, so it's a good day for you pirates.

    Pros:
    All pros of SEB-2.
Some NO-UMD mode bug fixes. Increase compatibility.

    Cons:
Most cons of SEB-2. (Bug fixes in NO-UMD mode.)
    ------------------------------------------------------------------

    2.71SE-C

Summary: A major release with major new features! The biggest one for me is USER PRX LOADING! This means we can finally have custom PRX loading! And that means we can take screenshots of the XMB, listen to music anywhere, have USB on all the time, all without flashing! Besides the PRX loading feature, DA has also made some other bug fixes, and here's an excerpt from the README.

    Quote:

    the memory stick

    * Usb mass storage couldn't be loaded by homebrews in non-devhook version because semawm.prx is sign checked.
HEN now applies the algorithm to reverse the sign check, letting this and the rest of firmware
modules to be loaded by a homebrew.
These changes were made to the HEN core.

    Pros:
    All pros of 2.71SEB-3
    User PRX loading
    Bug fixes

    Cons:
Few cons of 2.71SEB-3 (All bugs now gone.)
    --------------------------------------------------------------------
    3.02OE-A

Summary: A very major release. In this, DA combined the 3.02 VSH with the 1.5 Kernel, like he did with the original release of 2.71SE-A. This means we can now have all the features of 3.02, and run homebrew thanks to the 1.5 kernel. Surprisingly, not many features have been taken out. We still have the browser, RSS feeds, video playback, everything people said he would take out. But, DA did have to take out one feature. The Location Free Player. But, who really used that anyway? All features of 2.71SE-C have been kept, so we still have PRX loading, ISO XMB loading, all that nice stuff. DA has also hacked the PS1 encryption method, so now we can freely share our PS1 games bought from the PS3. But, these are considered ISO's, so please do not ask for help with them, or where to get them.

    Pros:
    All pros of 2.71SE-C
    3.02 XMB and Features
Free sharing of bought PS1 games

    Cons:
    Location Free Player removed
    --------------------------------------------------------------------
    3.03OE-A

Summary: Once again, a major release. DA changed the VSH to the 3.03 XMB, and he added support for compressed PSX ISO's and added support for the little game manuals that come with the official PSX games. I just use these for game guides ^_^ Anyway, with the compression, you can now get PSX games under 500 megs. You can make FF7 about 500 now! He also fixed a free region error and made some general bug errors.

    Pros:
    All pros of 3.02OE-A
    3.03 XMB and features
    Compressed PSX ISO support
    Game manual support
    Bug fixes

    Cons:
Some cons of 3.02OE-A (Bug fixes were made)
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

    3.03OE-A'

Summary: A minor release in my opinion, but it may be huge to some of you, because now we can finally overclock UMDs and ISOs without the use of a plugin. DA also made some recovery mode bug fixes, and made some ISO loading bug fixes.

    Pros:
    All pros of 3.03OE-A
    Bug fixes
    Native Overclocking

    Cons:
Some cons of 3.03OE-A (Bug fixes were made)
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

    3.03OE-B

Summary: This release makes something happen that we've all wanted. We can finally play full screen videos! No more of the 320x140 crap, we now get 480x272, the full PSP screen! DA also made bug fixes like always, so your favorite custom firmware has just gotten better!

    Pros:
    All pros of 3.03OE-A'
    Bug fixes
    Full resolution videos now allowed

    Cons:
Some cons of 3.03OE-A' (Bug fixes were made)
    --------------------------------------------------------------------

    3.03OE-C

Summary: Very nice release in my opinion. The new features are USB flashing, full screen AVC bug fixes, decreased start up time, PSP ISO's can be deleted from the XMB, the XMB clock speed can be changed, and when formatting the memory stick the necessary OE-C folders are made. Bug fixes were also made, like always. This update has to be installed by a full install once again.

    Pros:
    USB Flashing
    AVC Bug Fixes
    Decreased Start up Time
ISO's can be deleted through XMB
When formatting, necessary folders are made
    Bug fixes

    Cons:
Some cons of 3.03OE-B (Bug fixes were made)
    --------------------------------------------------------------------

    3.10OE-A

Summary: DA updated the custom firmware to firmware 3.10 just after it was released. He also allowed the fourth level of brightness to be used and added PAL support for PSX games. Other then that, not many new things were added and the annoying autoboot bug is still there. Plus, now your sutom icons have some errors like shadows being messed up and you need to convert them.

    Pros:
    PAL support for PSX games
Fourth level of brightness can be used
    Firmware changed to 3.10
    All pros of 3.03OE-C

    Cons:
    Autoboot bug still not fixed
Custom Icons can be used, some bugs though
    All cons of 3.03OE-C
    --------------------------------------------------------------------
    3.30OE-A

Summary: DA has finally released 3.30 OE-A, this update does not have many new features just as we suspected, but it's got a good assortment of basic ones. Custom icons that work on 3.10 OE-A will work on 3.30 OE-A.

    Pros:
    All pros of 3.10 OE-A
    Firmware changed to 3.30
    Bug Fixes

    Cons:
    Autoboot bug still not fixed
Custom Icons can be used, some bugs though
Most cons of 3.10 OE-A (Bug fixes were made)
    Bad PAL PS1 Game Support
    --------------------------------------------------------------------

    3.40OE-A

Summary: Dark_Alex has wowed us again with his fast release of 3.40 OE-A, which includes a autoboot fix. POPS is still in it's ASL state however, so some things may not work as well as they did before.

    Pros:
    All pros of 3.30 OE-A
    Firmware updated to 3.40
    Autoboot Bug fixed

    Cons:
Custom Icons Work but need to be converted.
3.40OE POPS saves won't work on lower firmwares.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

    IE Section3.02IE-A

Summary: This firmware was created by Becus25. It has the VSH of 3.02 so you get it's features, and it has the kernel of 2.71, so you can fully use IRShell, while still being able to use homebrew. It also has a better recovery menu than OE, allowing you to access more things, like flash2. However you can't use POPS on it, and it must be installed from 3.02OE.

    Pros:
    All pros of 1.5.
    Most pros of OE.
    Great recovery menu.
    Full IRShell support.

    Cons:
    POPS isn't usable.
    Must be installed from 3.02OE.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------
    3.40IE-A

Summary: Once again made by Becus25, this firmware was released shortly after DA announced he quit the scene. It has the game kernel and VSH of 3.40, so IRShell no longer is fully supported. It once again has most of the pluses of OE, except for POPS, but it makes up for this with it's supurb recovery menu.

    Pros:
    Most pros of 3.02IE-A
    Flash2/Flash3 access through recovery

    Cons:
Most cons of IE (Bug fixes were made)
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

    3.40IE-A2

Summary: Quick update to fix some bugs that will reduce bricking and Becus has added a hotkey to fix the configuration recovery has.

    Pros:
    All pros of 3.40IE-A
    Less chance of bricking
    Hotkey introduced

    Cons:
Most cons of 3.40IE-A (Bug fixes were made)
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

    M33 Section3.51M33

Summary: This is a newly released custom firmware made by a team of Russian hackers. It's their first release, and is just as good as 3.40OE, but instead uses the 3.51 kernel. It has CPU speed options, POPS, recovery mode, ISO launching, custom icons, everything that was on OE. It's also just as safe to install, and the team claims they made bug fixes to OE.

    Pros:
    All pros of OE
    Bug Fixes
    Kernel at 3.51

    Cons:
    Low flash space left
Some custom PRXs can't be used
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
    3.51M33-4

Summary: Quick update that fixed the WLAN and No-UMD bugs. 1.5 WIFI apps now work flawlessly, and more support for NO-UMD mode has been added. No cons were added as well.

    Bug fixes were made
NO-UMD mode is now more compatible with more ISOs

    -------------------------------------------------------------------

    3.51M33-5

Summary: Another very quick update, this one was released on the same day as the last one. It once again fixes some more NO-UMD issues, making it even more compatible. Once again, no cons were added.

    Pros:
    All pros of M33-4
    No-UMD compatibility has increased

    Cons:
Most cons of M33-4 (Bug fixes were made)

    Cons:
    Most cons of M33-5

    3.51M33-7

Summary: Quick as always, M33 is now at update seven. This one allows fourth setting brightness in 1.5 kernel homebrew, and fixes the WLAN bugs even more. It also hides your MAC address, just in case you're really security conscious. No cons are added as well.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------

And now for the newest custom firmware release 3.52 M33 update is preformed exactly the same way the 3.51 OE - M33 tut describes except you download the 3.52 update here:
    http://dj01.psp.update.playstation.o...69a5/EBOOT.PBP

also you say that 1.5 was the golden firmware and that it contained a recovery menu, but it was the POC firmware that had it, you forgot the LE firmwares. as well as 3.60 +

dude stop these useless c/p guides qj has a lot retarded members anyway. I recall some members saying the schideloader theme looks like crap; they are a bunch of retards that don't know how to get a theme working.
How about a guide to the cons of c/p from qj?

Eh. This serves no real useful purpose, but is good for referance... Maybe just add this to the "PSP Firmware Thread" stickied here in General. Just change the name from "Official Firmware Thread" to "Firmware Thread"

Scribble = Idk, if someone randomly punched in the STOMACH it wouldn't really hurt, especially if it was a girl. I think though, it's because I have lots of stomach muscle and that my stomach would automatically flex.
