    BLACKSPEED TIPS

Class 4 Kingston cards will out perform class 6 by 30+%,because they produce quality shit outta Japan. And they have the lowest random access times of any micro sdhc. The PSP can only read/write below 10MB (my PSP reads at aprox 7.142857MB/7.142857MB).The "fast memory stick access" option in 5.00 m33-6 replaced the "fatsmod plugin" which speeds up read times. If you dont notice a speed up,disable "Speed up MS Access", reboot,go back into recovery change "Speed up MS Access" to "ALWAYS" and try your game, or test again. Some times it doesn't show the full benefits the first time you enable it.Setting your xmb cpu to 333 it helps memory access a little bit (but not much).Having content on the stick affects the speed test slightly, and the performance index fluctuates about ten points between tests. Also ,when two mismatching cards are inserted the slower read/write speed will prevail.

    UNWRITTEN MEMORY STICK TIPS

If you put the memory stick access option on,the psp will still detect cr-5400+16gbx2 sdhc. After 3.90 M33 support in the 1.50 kernel was added for sticks greater than 4 GB. Before that, only the first 4 GB portion was recognized by the 1.5 kernel. Now, t theoretical limit is 4GB*512 = 2 Terabytes. ("only" 1 TB, if Sony were using signed variables). To format your card to FAT16 (FAT) so it uses larger clusters; open command line, a type X: /FS:FAT (where X: is the drive letter), press enter.

Damn that PQI 8GB microSDHC Class 6 for 19$ w/Free Shipping is an awesome deal!

Too bad they don't have any 16GB versions for like 35$.

    Still wondering if I should go CR-5400 + 2x 8GB or 1x16GB

Can someone tell me what "MEMORY STICK ACCCESS SPEED UP" enabled
    means?

Also, it seems there's not too many more recent tests, but 16 gb Micro SDHCs are getting cheaper now. Does anyone have an estimate of how fast one of these would be in a Photofast-5400? Or at least if you think it would be decent? Is it just pure Read Speed that counts how fast loading times and such will be in game?

Any help would be much appreciated!

thats a database recently being created.

As for the CR-5400, I put 2 8GB class 2 microSDHCs in a CR-5400, it got 17mb/s read times, and about 7-8 mb/s write times. Thats on MicroCenter brand memory too, which is as off brandish as you can get.

    Hope that helps out

with CR-5400 + 2x 16gb Patriot LX Pro Class 10 I get ~16 for read and ~14 for write (overall performance index 1923)

the micro sdhc cards were ~$35 each CAD but I probably could have gotten a class 4 for $10 less and not noticed. I didn't bother to put any games in cso format so it probably wouldn't matter if read is different and write doesn't matter much in psp (fast when the game saves I guess, lol)

Would Kingston 16gb class 4 cards be similar to the 8gb versions in terms of read/write?
I'm deciding between 2x16gb+adaptor or Sandisk 32gb MSPD at the moment.
The £30 saving is making me lean towards the 5400

UPDATE: Decided to get the Kingstons with adaptor. I'll upload my results when they get here

Exclamation **IMPORTANT** Some interesting data about this benchmark! **IMPORTANT**

I got a 2x16 set of sandisk Class 2 micro sd's and photofast 5400 in the mail today, my 2nd set (1st was 2x8 sandisk class 4, more on that later..)

Put the kit together, benchmarked with blackspeed and found it was running 29 recognized GB @ 6.5/write, 12/read speed. Overall score: 1310

Tested the old 2x8 kit and got a result of 10.7/write, 12/read. Score: 384.

Unhappy with dropping half write speed and after seeing abysmal speeds copying over 250mb in windows, I decided to test each 16gb class 2 chip separately in slot 1 of the CR-5400.

1st test: Card that was previously in slot 2 of the 5400 alone in slot 1 1x16GB class 2 sandisk: 7.3/write, 16.5 read. overall score: 1470

So i think to myself.. great! maybe they were just seated wrong or something (doesnt make sense.. they would probably just not work if that was the case.. but who knows eh?)

Then i placed the other 16gb sandisk card in slot 1 by itself (the one that was previously in slot 1 in the 1st test with the full 32gb) and ran the test: 6.5/write, 12.3/read. score: 1311.

I ran all of these tests repeatedly and took an average of the times based on 5+ passes. MS speed up access in recovery menu is set to "NEVER" for all tests, as I did not find any discernible difference with it enabled in any tests.

Last test I did was with the full 32mb again, except this time I had the sticks in opposite slots from the initial test.. result: 7.4/write, 16.4/read. overall score: 1475.

It has become apparent after confirming the data I collected that this program "blackspeed" should not be interpreted as it has been for the cr-5400 as it only records the speeds reported by the card in slot 1, not both of them. This makes the program great for single SD card testing, and if you test both cards separately and come to a similar benchmark you should by all means be good to go, but as far as the accuracy of the data on this thread is concerned, a good majority of it has been rendered irrelevant unless you are looking at the single card scores alone, and these can even vary wildly on media from the same provider with the same class rating.

If anyone else is to report their speeds here, be sure to do it in a manner where you are testing your memory card in all possible configurations (A/B, A1, A2, B/A) and reporting your findings in that manner, in order to make the data relevant. I would also like someone to test this with 2 sd cards they know to be different speeds and see if they get the same result.

Thank you for reading, and also for all the work you guys have done benchmarking your psp's. I stumbled upon this while building one for my roommate, he's going to be overjoyed with this I'm sure =)

**PS- sorry for the lack of pictures from Blackspeed I wrote all my results down to avoid having to copy files a gazillion times
