    Default Skype on teh phat?

I am wondering if anybody knows why skype is not available on the PSP-1000? I can't see a hardware reason for it, and Sony is not known for arbitrarily witholding features in their products. Is there any way to enable it with a CFW?

The hardware reason is the PSP-1000 doesn't have enough main memory to run skype.

    PSP-1000 - 32 MB main memory

    PSP-2000 - 64 MB main memory

You can however use PSPKVM (JavaME VM) and a Java version of Skype.

Wow, I'm surprised so much RAM is required. Anyway, thanks for the java solution, I'll tool about with it later.
