    a Panadora battery is use to boot the psp in service mode
    and
    you must have a magic memory stick for service mode to work

    PSP 1.5 got on USA first day is was 1.5 NOW 4.01 M33-2 -> 5.00 M33-6(1.50 addon),
    Old PS3s: PS3 60GB FW:3.41(2nd ps3 YLoD, 1st, YLoD)
    New PS3:
    Slim 160gb 01-21-2011 Working
    was 3.40 OFW->3.60 OFW

    2nd PSP : PHAT 5.50 GEN-D2
    3rd PSP : Sliver 3000 Starting OFW:4.20 (NEW bought NEW on 11/28/2010)
    It a good idea to have "Hide extensions for known file types" in Folder Options(under Tool) unchecked (turn on extensions)

    only difference is that a pandora battery sends the psp a 0xFFFFFFFF when asked for the battery serial.

    any other battery sends anything else.

    i don't remember what serial is for auto-on tho.

    if i am correct, a pandora battery will enable us to run CFW on the slim PSPs, as it boots the PSP in service mode. right? and that it can be made only with the Phat PSP? and that it needs a magic memory stick to run?

    since i am a noob, just entering the world of PSP....i want to gain some knowledge before i run out to buy my PSP.

    at least your trying to do your home work before buying.

    If you wanted my opinion, i would tell you to...

    Not buy a psp 3000.
    first get you a pandora battery, and a MMS.
    then take both those things with you to all the local pawn shops, untill you find a PSP that reacts to the pandora/MMS combo. buy it! flash it! an buy a new shell for $16 on dealextreme. PSP looks just like new again. even the screen is scratch free.

    but i guess no one asked me.
