    Here's a quick comparison:

    Phat

    32MB - RAM
    1.50 kernel access
    IR Port
    Fully Hackable via all methods

    Slim

    Slimmer.
    64MB - RAM
Some Slim+ exclusive features such as Skype, etc.
Older units tend to be more hackable. Newer ones are hackable based on the firmware that's installed on it.

See this post for more info on that

I have a Slim. It's one with the launch motherboard that I got 3 months after its release date. I would definitely recommend it as the Phat is slowly being phased out with the upcoming slew of [some] homebrew and [some] firmware updates. IMO, anything Slim from Sony has been a good choice for me. (Except for the PS2 =/)

But that was 2 years ago. Now, you have to worry about unhackable motherboards. If you're willing to go through much just to find a fully hackable one, by all means, go for it. If not, you're better off getting a Phat.

phat. i know its being phased out and it makes me sad. but you have a psp with almost 5 years of history. 5 years of support and a gigantic list of homebrew. id articulate this more beautifully, but its 13Oam and vodka Oo

I have both the PHAT and the TA-085 SLIM. I would recommend the SLIM if it's a TA-085 so you can still create a Pandora battery.

i wanted a slim but from what you guys posted, it'll be hard trying to find a psp slim in stores that is hackable. so i decided to fix a psp slim i had laying around. the only problem is that the screen is broke. i want to order a new screen from vpgames.com. do anybody know if this site legit?

Didn't DA release a loader for 1.50 kernel homebrew on Slim PSPs? I haven't tried it though.

If you find a hackable slim, it's smaller (obviously) and has more RAM (good for emulators, plugins, etc) and a brighter screen, but has no IR port (no keyboard, TV remote, etc).

depending on if you have a 3000 or a 2000, get one of these screens:
