Default Anyone bought a psp 3000 recently?

Now that the psp 3000 has a reliable cfw, I'm interested in upgrading from my 2k. I'm thinking of buying from amazon, or anywhere really but I'm just curious if anybody else has bought one recently and what their default firmware is.

my friend recently bought one and it was 5.02. Personally i wouldnt use the feedback you get from this post as judgement on the firmware level that comes with 3000s these days purely because it depends on when the store received their supplies and when the PSPs were actually manufactured. Some stores may have only got supplies yesterday in which case they'll probably come with 5.55+ and others may have bought their stock 6 months back and just not managed to sell it. Those will likely to be firmare <5.03

Nice to hear that hackable psp 3ks are still out there. Can you do me a favor and ask your friend what letter was on his box? I'm not sure how to identify it exactly but its in the model number or something.

    hmmm...that might be a challenge.

But there is unlikely to be any correlation betwee firmware and the box.

    According to this post:

You can find out the firmware by some lettering. A friend used the same method on the psp 1000 and indeed found a psp with the firmware he needed. So I'd imagine it's true to some extent.
