Default Slim with busted LCD screen

So I have a slim with a busted LCD screen. I know it's a TA-085 motherboard. What I don't know is the firmware version. I bought it from my brother's friend for $20. I do know the firmware version is higher than 5.50. On my phat PSP there are 6 key clicks on the XMB when I go from one side to the other, on this PSP there are 7. Which OFW introduced one more item on the XMB?

(I also managed to find my music on my memory card stupid busted LCD screen can't keep me down forever!)

Oh, thanks. I'm thinking I might flash 5.00 M33 FW to this. I wonder how hard that will be without being able to see the screen. lol

edit: Is there a specially cable I need for the TV out function to work? Or maybe a certain TV?

To flash CFW without the screen : Make PB + MMS and once you insert them, wait for a few seconds, then press X. Wait for 2 or 3 minutes, then press X to reboot. ( so it isn't that hard )
Use your PSP Phat to install remotejoy on the MS of your PSP slim, then enable it and insert that MS in your PSP Slim. Reboot your Slim PSP, connect your PSP to the USB cable, and run remotejoy on your PC. That's the best you can do for a slim without a screen until you get one.
Update to 5.00 M33-6 via the quick updater + remotejoy
To make sure remotejoy runs well, go to the recovery menu of your PSP Slim ( It's gonna be too hard I know ) Then do the following :
    Click D-pad down once
    Press X
    Click D-pad down twelve times
Press X to enable speed up MS Access
    Press D-pad up twelve times
    Press X
    Press D-pad down seven times
    Press X
The PSP will boot with remotejoy and it'll work well
To make sure it works even better : When in XMB, press select to get the vsh menu, then change CPU Clock Game to 333/166 MHz to make games run faster ( but that'd drain the battery way fast )
    Hope that helps
Note : I know that you've got Linux and I don't know how to install remotejoy on linux, you may need to look for a tut for that.
Note : All my guides are outdated.

Thanks for explaining that all to me & telling me exactly which buttons to press. It will certainly help me

I dual boot Windows 7 also. So I have both. I think I need to use my old Windows XP computer for Remote Joy I think.

Remote joy should work with Windows 7 fine.

Yup, I just got it working. I tried a few months ago and it just wouldn't work. Tried it just now and had no problems. This is a fresh install of 7 so maybe I just had something wrong with the last install of it that I had.

Just wanted to update everyone: I finally got to replace the screen. I love this PSP almost as much as my phat.

    Welcome to the 2k crowd!

Does that PSP have the TA-085v1 or the TA-085v2 motherboard?

The motherboard just has TA-085 printed on it, I'm going to run PSPident to see if it's considered v1 or v2 in a few minutes.

Edit: Yup, it's a v1! I have access to the EEPROM:
