Default Found Old PSP... What now?

    Herro Guys,

    Back Story:

Long long ago, around 2005 I bought a PSP. Then a year later I broke it. Then I bought another PSP! Then 5 days later I returned it... Then 2 weeks later I bought another PSP! I loved my PSP all I did with it was play games and try homebrew apps using 1.5 well eventually I grew up and put my PSP in the top drawer of my dresser and forgot about it. (kinda like the latest toystory)

I have removed it from storage yet again and I have it sitting in my lap it is obviously a PSP-1001 and running firmware 3.03 and I am at a loss as to what I should do with my PSP. Should I upgrade it to Sony's latest firmware or hack it to a custom firmware and if so what firmware should I be looking at for my model?

Thank you all for your assistance in this matter!

While I am new to PSP hacking I am not new to hacking handhelds. I have a Windows Mobile TP2 which can dual boot either WinMo or Android 2.2 on top of that I love using custom ROM's on almost all of my handheld devices. again thanks for reading I know my posts can be wordy!

    i would...

update to either 5.00m33-6 with prometheus-2 patch
    or
    5.50 GEN prome-2

from my understanding it depends what you want to do.
if you want to mainly play games, then 5.50gen prome-2 is good enough

i think for homebrew??? (please correct me if im wrong) then 5.00m33-6 is the way to go as its better

It honestly doesn't matter which one you upgrade to. 5.00 M33-6 is a popular choice yet 5.50 GEN-D3 is newer and basically does the same stuff. Take your pick. If you pick 5.50 GEN and decide you don't like it, you can easily downgrade to 5.00 M33.

There is no reason to use 5.50 gen anymore.
    Use 5.00 M33-6.
I don't recommend the Prometheus "CFW."
Just use the decryption plugins. (There is a Prometheus decryption plugin..)
