    Default What emulators support 7z?

I have a lot of roms that are compressed using the 7z format and most of the emulators I've been trying don't support that. So my question is, what emulators support 7z? I don't want to convert to zip because the files become 10x the size

Try downloading WinRAR and convert it to .RAR.There is a unlimited trial version, but it annoys you every time you start the application saying that you should purchase. It is easy as clicking No and continue to do what you need.

Emulators have a greater support for .RAR files.

It a good idea to have "Hide extensions for known file types" in Folder Options(under Tool) unchecked (turn on extensions)

I have winrar, and didn't think about trying them as .rar files but...

Is this true for sure? I mean I've used emulators for my computer in the past that have worked with 7z (I think?). I guess that means I need to slim down my collection

I had experienced with .RAR and .ZIP for compressed formats. However, they do slow down the game just slightly (depending on the game). I recommend getting a bigger memory card (if memory is the issue) and using uncompressed files so that you can enjoy your ROMs more efficiently.

I doubt a ZIP will be 10x the size of a 7z archive - it will be larger, but nowhere near that amount (assuming you're using a sane compressor). If the 7z archive contains multiple ROMs, that may be the case, in which, when converting the ZIP, you'd only retain one copy of the ROM.

7-Zip (the application) generally creates ZIP files which are more compressed than other applications, so you can try ZIPping your ROMs with 7-Zip, on its highest settings (Ultra level compression).

I converted some to zip and played them but found they load much faster when just uncompressed, so I think I'm just going to thin my collection down and leave them uncompressed. The memory card is an 8gb though, so can't go much bigger
