Hello guys, any idea how to lock the Memory Stick PRO Duo ? We have a physical lock for some memory cards. Can we lock MS in such a way ? Or else do we need to use any encryption software ?

lock the memory stick? do you mean like lock certain folders or certain files on the memory stick? if so.... use this homebrew app:
    http://dl.qj.net/down/lock-the-folder-v11.html

i have tried it myself, and is pretty good, you can lock certain folders and also lock only subfolders if you want, lets say you want to lock a folder that is inside the video folder, you can choose to lock only that subfolder, so the rest of the folders inside the video folder are available, the readme is in the download, hope it helps

This thread is more than two months old. The OP either found his answer or doesn't care anymore.

As for the hijacker who bumped this thread:

AFAIK, Memory Stick Pro Duos don't have the write protection switch found on most SD cards.

The OP was talking about genuine and fake memory sticks. Not the brand.

To check if a memory stick is genuine or not, go to the XMB on your PSP.
Under Game, press triangle on the Memory Stick icon then press cross on Information.

If it says MagicGate Supported, then it's genuine.
If it says MagicGate Unknown or anything else, then it's fake.

The quality of fake memory sticks differ from one to another. Some last a few months, some last days.
Some have a much less amount of storage than is actually written on it.
I have one that functions fully for more than three years now.
