Ok,
Lets make this short and sweet,
My signal strenght is poor. 15%
Shouldnt i be able to usb up to my computer and use my dsl connection to boost my signal strenght to 100? I've never been able to successfully play any game online.
Any ideas?

Get an external attanae (idk how it's spelled) for your router... it should boost it.
-
for WHAT router....my Linksys for my SBC dsl?
who's to say i actually have a router?
and if i do buy one for my router, how much will that boost my signal by?
thanks
and i think you were trying to spell Antenna ^^

if you had a router u should get no less than 70% and how you getting 15% if you dont have one.either your picking someone elses signal up or your doing that trick with the wireless lan card.

Heh... oh, boy...
Let's see...
The first thing you should do is to check to make sure that you actually own a router. Ask yourself this question: can more than one computer in my house connect to the internet at the same time? If the answer is yes, then you have a router. If you only have one computer, then its time to get down under the desk and have a looksee what what you do have. You'll have at least one box, the modem, which will either have a coax cable connected to it (cable internet) or a telephone wire (DSL internet). If that's the only box you have, then you don't have a router (unless you have one of those shitty 2-WIRES, which in that case you should buy a decent external router anyways). Now, considering that you DO have a router, you can easily check to see if it's wireless. If there's an antenna sticking out of the back, then it's wireless. Or, if you have a small box with an antenna connected to your wired router, then you have wireless. Now, CONSIDERING that you have all these things taken care of, there are a few different things you can do to improve your wireless connectivity. Firstly, place your wireless router/access point in an area that has the least solid matter surrounding it. Secondly, get it up as high as you can, this will allow the signal to go further. A good way to lightly boost the signal is to buy an omnidirectional anntea and replace the small one on your router/access point with it. This will improve your connection to the router variably. If you're still not getting this, go on down to Best Buy or whatever and ask to speak with a networking specialist and they will explain it to you and tell you what you need to do. Good luck...

you just scanned for a signal and connected, didnt you. youre not using your router at all from the sounds of it because your router isnt wireless. am i right? you're stealing someone elses signal? you can tell us...

Ok, before we go any further....
i know the problem...my router is not wireless. thats it. I know how to hook up a network, i work on computers for a living. But like i said before, never used WIFI connections... SO basically i need to play my psp at a friends house instead of my own...I was just hoping there was someway i could feed directly off my DSL connection from my regular router instead of a Wireless....
There has to be Some way i can provide that connection without having to use a wireless router...this thing is like a mini computer....

yeah, Datel is making wifi usb thingies that you can use as your access point, so you don't need a wireless router.
