Thanks but I've already seen this thread and there's no such thing on my box as a barcode with a letter as in the picture.

I don't get it. Where is that code on my box ? It's nowhere to be found !

Nope. The only string of characters that may be useful is the "PSP-2001PB / 98510" printed on the side of the box. Also a sticker with a barcode and "AB023758452". Nothing else : I've looked around the box at least four times.

But anyways, that's not really important. What's important is that I get a PSP that works. I'll try to look on the box for that sticker next time I go shopping, or maybe I can ask the clerk to open the box so that I can check out the firmware version.
What version should I be looking for ? Something lower than 4.01, I guess...

The earlier the manufacturer date, the more chance you have.

-Avoid the Madden PSP and GOW PSP (blue/red)

Try to get the Star Wars one. (white)
