Blank Screen after every shutdown??
I have a PSP-1004 (Phat) and have been running with 5.50 Gen B successfully until my son attempted to upgrade to Gen D3. I believe it is because he attempted to use the chickhen exploit. Now regardless to anything I have tried so far (installing OFW 5.00, CFW 5.00M33, format the Flash, Reinstall Gen D3) it only comes up with a blank screen unless I put in my MMS card and remove and replace the battery. That being said it will play the newer games after installing Gen D3 but only after the monotonous startup procedure.
If someone has run into this before I would appreciate the help on getting it sorted out. Thanks.

sounds like ur battery is pandora.
Can u try starting ur psp plugged into the wallcharger, but without the battery.
Post ur result here.

IAMAFREAK: Not sure why I never tried that but I can't thank you enough for the thought. I normalized the battery a couple times to make sure then reinstalled Gen D3 and tried it with the wallcharger alone and it worked. Then I tried it with the battery alone and with many grins found that it now works again as normal.
+Rep and Merry Christmas
PS: any suggestions for a PSP2001 previously using 5.03MHU but now with a blank screen

no probs... Merry Christmas and a happy new year
What was the last thing that u tried on psp 2001?
Does it turn on?

My bad it's actually a 2003. I'm not exactly sure what my son tried to do. I gave him the instructions on how to use ChickHen as he constantly ran it out of power and sometimes the exploit would take up to an hour to get it to work.
After I noticed that he wasn't playing with it anymore I asked him for the PSP to check it out as there is always a reason why kids stop playing with things and it's usually because they broke it.
I've tried starting it with and without the battery and with and without the wall charger.
Last known Firmware Version was 5.03

Sounds like its bricked...Unless, it was dropped or something.
And since u were using 5.03 MHU, I assume it has the TA-088v3 mobo. In which case, there is no way to un-brick it.
If u are not sure of the mother board, create a magic memory stick and insert it along with pandora battery and see if u get the M33 menu...
If nothing happens when u insert the mms and pandora, then it is confirmed that u have the TA-088v3 mobo.

Sorry about the wait.... I hit the wrong button.
The PSP is actually a 2001. The last known firware was 5.03MHU. However I taught my son how to use ChickHen because he constantly drained the PSP and lost it's crack. I'm not sure what else he tried to do however now it will only display the green power light when I attempt to turn it on. I also notice that I cannot turn it off using the power toggle. (I'm forced to remove the battery to shut it completely down.) I have tried completely draining the battery and then fully charging it and I have tried the battery from my Phat. Both in Normal and Pandora modes.

if the green light stays on, then i think the problem might be with backlight or the screen.
can u hear any xmb sounds?

Yeah I tried that before I had tried the ChickHen Exploit... Actually that is what caused me to search out the ChickHen solution. I thought it was bricked as well but wanted confirmation from a guru. I only have about 6 months of playing with these but I do try to read before posting stupid questions. Maybe you'd agree seeing as my first post started this thread.
Thanks again for your help and fast responses.
Cheers
