PSP corrupting ROM files
Finally got around to hacking my PSP and testing out a ton of emulators to find the ones that work best for me. And ported over a crap ton of roms I've had on my computer. Everything worked fine there. I never had an NES emulator on my computer so once I found one that worked for my PSP I went to a rom site to get all th roms I wanted for that. They worked fine. Then I got into custom themes. Which I'll admit might be the problem, but we'll get to that in a sec
After I had everything pretty much set up on my PSP the way I wanted it I found a site that's all about old RPGs, lots of them being Japanese only. With pre-patched ROMs. And actually a lot of good non-RPG suggestions. And he had everything available for download so I got them. And nothing worked. I thought maybe the problem was that I transferred directly into my PSP's memory card with a PSP usb. So I used a card reader to put them on the card. Still didn't work. I even tried downloading a lot of them from the rom site from before, and even that didn't work. I eventually found out (because they're in .zip) format, that they're being corrupted at some point after getting to my PSP because when I try to open them from the PSP I can't (they open fine before transferring over, and even after they're over they work from the PSP, but once I do anything with my PSP they stop working). Unzipping them and loading with the emulators doesn't work either. I open them in 7zip and all it does is re-open the folder that they're in (except it doesn't list all the corrupted ones for some reason)
So do themes cause these kind of problems? Or could it be some other setting in my PSP doing this? Its doing it with every emulator and new file. I had one custom theme running when I downloaded all my other custom themes. And those themes never got corrupted. I switched back to that theme and put the ROMS on the card and they still get corrupted. So I don't see how the theme would corrupt the files I put into GAME and not the files that are put into THEME
I've done a search but trying to find someone whose experienced this specific problem is difficult. I don't know what parameters to search for. "ROM problems" of course brings up a plethora of varying results, nothing relating to this situation
PSP is version 1001 running 5.50 GEN-D3 custom firmware

Looks like I stumped most of you :] I seen there were 15 views at least. So thanks for looking, anyway. I sorta fixed it. Not in a manner I like because I still have no idea what the problem was or how to -actually- fix it. But fyi changing back to original or classic theme didn't help. But eventually I realized that the problem wasn't happening on my original stick (which I had mostly set up after the hack) That's where I play tested emulators and roms so it had almost everything my 4gig stick had, just not all the themes. So whatever was wrong it was either something just on the memory stick, or a setting that the psp saves to the memory stick. 'Cause apparently it saves certain settings and files on there like I noticed that my icons and wallpaper were messed up for the theme I was using when I switched. So in the end I had to completely format my 4gig and copy all the stuff from the original memory stick over and then put back on all the newer stuff I wanted. And it seemed to work. I'll do some play testing later and verify all the roms work. Then throw on a theme and another rom and see if that had anything to do with the problem. Ugh :]
