Default Firmware Update Corrupted Data? D:

I recently received a PSP used an found it was hacked. Since I much rather have a PSP with ofw, i tried downloading the update from Sony's website. I put everything in the right place: Memory Stick (F-PSP-GAME-UPDATE (EBOOT.PBP placed in Update folder) yet when i try to update it the data in the memory stick is just CORRUPTED DATA if it helps i have PSP 1000 and the the firmware is 5.50 GEN D2. I tried downloading ofw 6.37 (latest).

Well, if you really wanna make Sony proud of you. (You need WiFi for this) Reboot your PSP while holding R-trigger to put you in Gen Recovery Mode, now scroll to "Configuration" and look for Use "M33 Network Update" Disable it then Exit. Update your PSP from the XMB itself. Scroll to the farthest left of the XMB then scroll up until you highlighted Update.

Or if you don't have WiFi:

Try downloading the firmware eboot from a different site or try a different version:

I've already tried two other versions including 6.20 and I believe 1.5, still didn't work, it showed up as corrupted data.

Sooo, what should I do to get rid of this GEN thing. I've been looking around the recovery menu and I found this gamefaqs folder thing that's currently at 1.50 kolenel. Would that effect anything if I change it to 5.XX?
