OK,

I have a number of PSPs, but I only have one PSP-2001 (unhackable motherboard)
and it's been acting up today...
BTW I use 5.03-GEN C on this PSP (and 5.03 Prome-3), but when this happened I was in OFW because the battery had run out.

Well, at first I thought it was bricked, because it would turn on for a few seconds, start to load up the XMB, and then shut off before it finished.

I first tried removing the battery a couple times, but it didn't do anything.

Then I noticed something really strange, at least for the situation.

If I put the PSP in lock mode (by pushing the power switch down) as it was loading up, then it would continue past where it would normally shut off and load up the XMB like normal. Then as soon as I put it out of lock mode, it shut off again.

I then tried restoring the default settings on the PSP by holding square, triangle, start, and select while turning on the PSP.

It didn't fix the problem, although since the default settings were restored, whenever I put the PSP in lock mode as it was starting up it would automatically load the UMD I had in it, so the game start screen would come up but if I took it out of lock mode to try and do anything then it shut off again...

So, left with no options, I just started trying random things.
Once again, I put the PSP in lock mode as it started up, and then waited for the XMB to load, then decided to unlock it and relock it quickly. I didn't expect this to do anything, but suprisingly, once I unlocked it the second time, it actually let me move around the XMB for about 30 seconds. All I had time to do was check the System Information and for some reason it said I was using Prometheus as my System Software... which makes no sense since the PSP shut off about 20 times before this... but anyways,

I kept trying different things with unlocking and locking the PSP to try and do SOMETHING... so I ended up running a ChickHEN exploit and then reinstalling 5.03 Prome-3 by locking/quickly unlocking/locking whenever I didn't have to press anything...

So as of right now, it's working fine again, after reinstalling 5.03 Prome-3 it didn't turn off anymore... yet.

I just wanted to get the insight of people here who may have any idea what in the world was going on with my PSP, and if it's a serious problem that may reoccur or something.

I haven't tried to install anything at all on it lately, let alone anything risky, and it's been working without problems for about 6 months now.

I don't know why this started happening, and I haven't heard/seen anything like this before... :/
