Default System folder from PSP has disappeared

Hey guys, i was about the browse the net on my psp when i noticed my history was cleaned out and when i checked my bookmarks they were gone too...
following this i checked my Psp folder and noticed that the entire system folder had disappeared!
i tried a scan on the memory card and... well it find something called system but its now a file not a folder.
Can anyone give me some help? thanks (I DO have a backup but its outdated and doesnt have all the links i might need)
