How to use and install CXMB (CFW 3.71-6.60)
How to use and install CXMB (CFW 3.71-6.60)
CXMB is a Custom PRX Plugin that allows you to load CTF's (flash0 theme compiled into a single file) from your memory stick using the Theme Settings Menu.
No flashing is required.
Patpat's release of Poison's CXMB for CFW 3.71-6.60:
➡ CXMB support for 3.71-6.60 by Patpat.rar
CXMB is compatible with all firmwares, 3.71 to 6.60. However, CTF's are not.
You must use CTF's compatible with your firmware.
Copy the cxmb folder into the root of your memory stick:
Open the seplugins folder on the root of your memory stick:
Open the vsh.txt file inside the seplugins folder and add this line:
If you have a PSPgo and are using internal storage, open the vsh.txt file and add this line:
6.20 TN Users, you must enable the VSH menu and select "Restart VSH".
6.XX PRO Users, you must enable the VSH menu and select "Reset VSH".
Download a CTF file from below or from the PSP Theme Releases forum, or create one following the steps below and place it in PSP/THEME:
Go to Settings/Theme Settings/Theme/ and select your theme:
Your PSP will restart and will apply your new theme.
To change themes simply place your CTF's in PSP/Theme (you don't have to delete your old theme) and then select the theme by going to Settings/Theme Settings/Theme and select your new theme. You can hold as many CTF files as you want on your memory card.
Make Your Own Theme File (CTF) using CXMB:
Use your own modified flash0 files, or download a flash0 theme that you want to convert to CTF.
- Create a folder and name it vsh and copy it to the CXMB folder.
- Create a folder and name it font and copy it to the CXMB folder.
- Create a folder and name it support and copy it to the CXMB folder.
- Create a text file and name it conf.txt and copy it to the CXMB folder.
- Place the module and resource folders from the flash0 theme in the vsh folder, and the font in the font folder:
In order to create a CTF, three decrypted prx are required (common_gui.prx, paf.prx, and vshmain.prx).
These three prx must be placed in the support folder inside the CXMB folder.
Here are the required decrypted prx for each firmware version.
(If you want to create a 5.50 CTF, download the 5.50 PRX, for a 5.00 CTF, the 5.00 PRX, etc.):
➡ 6.35 prx
➡ 6.20 prx
➡ 5.50 prx
➡ 5.00 prx
➡ 4.01 prx
➡ 3.90 prx
➡ 3.71 prx
Download Sony's Custom Theme Converter:
➡ Sony Custom Theme Converter v1.6.0.zip
Get a screenshot of your theme and make it to these standards. "300x170, 24bit true color, BMP" and load it to Preview Image in the Others tab:
Find a small picture of your choice or use the same picture and resize it to theses standards. "16x16, 256 Colors, PNG" and load it to Preview Icon in the Others tab.
Get a picture for wallpaper and resize it to these standards. "480x272, 24Bit true color, BMP" and load it to Wallpaper in the Wallpaper tab:
On the information tab, enter random information for the Product ID and for the the version, then go to File/Export and pick a name for your ptf file:
Place the ptf in the CXMB folder.
Then open up the conf.txt file, and add this line:
PSP/Theme/name of your ptf.ctf
For example, if your PTF is named mytheme.ptf, then in the conf.txt file you'd write:
Reboot your PSP.
The memory stick light will flash as the CTF file is being created in the theme folder of your PSP .
You should boot to your new theme.
You can now delete the contents of the VSH and FONT folders, and delete the ptf file as well.
Make Your Own Theme File (CTF) using CTF Tool GUI:
Download CTF Tool GUI here.
Using this application, you can create a CTF from flash0 files on your PC.
Note: This will also require the use of Sony's Custom Theme Converter to create a ptf file.
1. Launch the application and click the Create tab.
2. Select your firmware version from the drop down menu.
3. Double-click and select the path to your VSH directory.
4. Double-click and select the path to your FONT directory.
5. Double-click and select the path to your PTF file.
6. Double-click and select the path for your CTF file.
7. Click Start and your new CTF will be created from your flash0 files.

new version is out... not compatible with old .ctf
it seems working for me.. maybe u should change the month color to Jan!
Some files will not work. For example, full resplution 01-12.bmp's in Ultimate Blue V somethimes won't work and you'll just get a white background.
I thought installing cxmb is easy since im on 3.71 m33
Better I will do the flashin merthod.. Im not scared...
Do you have to edit conf file in cxmb when you pick the new theme , cause I don't get the option to view but original theme the rest dosen't show ???
Try again. Basicaly that how CXMB picks the theme it edits the conf text. Is your CTF theme in the Theme folder of your PSP.
Is the plugin ebabled in the recovery menu. Tell me some more info so I can help you.
ok it's working now , I had to disable screen.prx and music.prx and now the list is showing but it doesnot pick up the background is that a normal behavior ? thanks man cool tutorial :twothumbs:
I'm new to CTF. What is the advantage and disadvantage of CTF over Flash0 themes?
What I need to know the most is can I change MS while using CTF theme?
CTF is much better than flash0

No you can't change memory sticks. What will happen is the icons will stop working.
I think the only disadvantage is that you can't use the internet browser, unless that it is fixed in the latest one.
