Exclamation How to setup 5.00 m33-6.Avoid common problems.

    Last updated:30/11/2010

This is a guide for all 5.00 m33-6 users out there
to ensure maximum compatibility and to avoid common problems.
It has been compiled by Organised_Chaos, Tribfather and myself.
Credits to pikachewee and asciidity for their awesome posts. This may be updated with more information and pictures if we think it is necessary.

    Check this first!
    Spoiler:

If you don't have 5.00 m33-6 and have 5.50 gen d3 read this

Also,to all fully hackable psp owners(psp 1000 and psp 2000 WITHOUT the TA088v3 motherboard), please check this tutorial to hack your psp with 5.00 m33-6!Click here

Make sure that you have performed all the steps!

    Step 1(optional):Format your memory stick

    Spoiler:

If you have never done so, format the memory stick WITH the PSP.
Back up everything you need. Then go to xmb(PSP main screen) and go to
    settings->system settings->format memory stick.
The psp auto-creates the folders it needs to function properly.
You can then copy your backed up files back to the memory stick.

Step 2:Change your umd iso mode

    Spoiler:

ON XMB(the main screen of the psp) press select to bring up the VSH menu.
Set UMD ISO MODE to M33 driver or Sony NP9660.(i use the first setting)

Step 3:Fix a recovery bug for step 4

    Spoiler:

    Credits to pikachewee!
In XMB, press select to open the vsh menu.Change USB DEVICE to flash0
Connect your PSP via USB to your computer. It will now link you to flash0 directory.

Whatever you do, do NOT delete or edit any files in flash0 other that what I'm about to instruct you,
or you may brick your PSP and it will require Pandora battery and MMS to unbrick it.

    First download the recovery fix.

Unzip it somewhere and find "recovery.prx" inside flash0->vsh->module.

Then, copy that inside flash0->vsh->module folder of the psp and press yes to overwrite.

Disconnect the PSP from the PC and remember to change back the USB device to MEMORY STICK.

    Important note!
    (Credits to Organised_Chaos)
If you cannot see the specified files to overwrite inside flash0,
    download this
    or alternate download
After that unzip it somewhere on your PC.Then follow the same procedure to change USB device to flash0,connect your psp with the PC and copy "unlocker.bat" to flash0(not inside any folder)

Step 4:Speed up your memory stick
    Spoiler:

Turn off your PSP fully. Hold down the "R" trigger button, and then turn your PSP on.
Once the RECOVERY MENU has loaded, go into Configuration -> Speed up MS access -> Always
Once your Speed up MS access is set to Always, exit the RECOVERY MENU

    IMPORTANT INFO!(by Ryu)
Note that some games will need "Speed up MS access", set to Never, so you can do the Data Install.
    Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker
    AND
    Phantasy Star Portable 2
    fall into that category.

after you do the Data Install, set it back to Always

    Step 5:Edit your version.txt
    Spoiler:

On XMB, press select to open the vsh menu.Change USB DEVICE to flash 0.
Connect your PSP via USB to your computer. It will now link you to Flash0 directory.

Whatever you do, do NOT delete or edit any files in flash0 other that what I'm about to instruct you,
or you may brick your PSP and it will require a pandora battery and MMS to unbrick it.

In flash0, go into directory VSH -> ETC -> version.txt and you should see a file called "version.txt".
Right click on it, select the last option "properties" and make sure to uncheck(if it is enabled) the "read only" bottom choice in "attributes" and click "ok"

Now if you double click on it, NOTEPAD will load the version.txt file.
In that NOTEPAD version.txt delete everything that is written and copy one of the following to it.

Spoiler for the 6.31 original version.txt:

    release:6.31:
    build:4614,0,3,1,0:builder@vsh-build6
    system:56684@release_631,0x06030110:
    vsh:p6579@release_631,v57952@release_631,20100726:
    target:1:WorldWide

Spoiler for a 9.91 version text:

    release:9.91:
    build:4614,0,3,1,0:builder@vsh-build6
    system:56684@release_991,0x09090110:
    vsh:p6579@release_991,v57952@release_991,20100726:
    target:1:WorldWide

    Either one should work.

Once you edited your version.txt file,
save and exit the NOTEPAD version.txt file and make it read only again.

Now disconnect your PSP from your computer, hit the "Select" button
and change your USB DEVICE back to Memory Stick.

Now turn off your PSP fully again. Hold down the "R" button and turn on your PSP
to get back into RECOVERY MENU,
Go into: Configuration -> Use version.txt -> Enabled and set it to ENABLED.

Save and exit from RECOVERY MENU

Step 6:Installing 6_30 plugin to play the latest games(part 1)
    Spoiler:

    Download the 6_30 plugin
    The password is pspking.de

Since this is a plugin follow this tutorial by tribfather
Warning!Although there are two files in the zip, m33_630.prx and
m33_630_user.prx you have to copy both in the "seplugins" folder of the PSP
but only enable the "m33_630.prx" as explained by tribfather's tutorial!

Step 7:Installing prometheus addon to play the latest games(part 2)
    Spoiler:

Important warning!Installing prometheus may make your save games become corrupted!

    Download this file

    Prometheus addon

Use winzip or winrar to unzip it anywhere on your psp by double clicking on it and drag/drop anywhere on your pc.

Connect your psp with the pc.
Go to folder psp->game-> and copy the entire 5.00_Prometheus folder there.

Disconnect the psp.On XMB again go to game and run the prometheus
    .

You are now done!Enjoy your cfw!

Looks good. You might want to offer a link to the mega thread or the video tutorials on how to install 5.00 M33 in the first place though. Something like this:

"This is a guide for all 5.00 m33-6 users out there to ensure maximum compatibility and to avoid common problems. It has been compiled by tribfather and myself. If you don't have 5.00 M33-6 installed yet, read the turoials written by Scorpus or watch the videos created by kamenrider. "

Of course, if you have your own guides you could link them to your tutorials instead.

    in step 2,

you may want to note that
some games will need "Speed up MS access", set to Never, so you can do the Data Install
    like
    Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker
    AND
    Phantasy Star Portable 2

after you do that Data Install, you can set it back to Always

    PSP 1.5 got on USA first day is was 1.5 NOW 4.01 M33-2 -> 5.00 M33-6(1.50 addon),
    Old PS3s: PS3 60GB FW:3.41(2nd ps3 YLoD, 1st, YLoD)

It a good idea to have "Hide extensions for known file types" in Folder Options(under Tool) unchecked (turn on extensions)

I'll rephrase my question.... Why use remotejoy if you only want pics? RemoteJoy is good for videos, but for for pics just use something like FuSa or something..

I think he meant that he wanted to use RemoteJoy to capture some screenshots of the PSP screen. For those with reading disabilties, like myself (whom can understand pictures better than reading words) or those whom doesn't understand English, visual illustrations can help them.
