Exclamation 6.20 TN-C(signed) : Hacking and downgrading your PSP with total_noob's HEN

    Introduction

This guide applies mostly to the PSP GO, PSP 3000 and PSP 2000 with the "unhackable" motherboard(TA088v3), with official firmwares 5.50-6.20. It can also be used for downgrading the rest of the PSP's if a pandora battery is not available! Please keep in mind that 6.20 TN-C belongs to the "temporary cfw" category meaning that if you turn off your PSP(not sleep mode), the hack is gone and you have to repeat the process on the PSP itself. Whenever possible, I recommend the older cfw's because they have more features, more plugins and easier iso loading!

    I. UPDATING TO 6.20 official firmware(ofw).

    • Download 6.20 OFW or the PSP GO version depending on your PSP.
    • Connect the PC with the PSP and copy the eboot.pbp contained in the .rar to the folder PSP/GAME/UPDATE. IF those folders do not exist, create them.
      Spoiler for copy eboot.pbp here:

    • Disconnect the PSP from the PC and from XMB(main screen of the PSP),
      run the 6.20 update.
      Spoiler:

You are now in 6.20 OFW!

    II.Installing 6.20 TN-C.

    • Download the 6.20 TN-C and copy the "TN_HEN" folder(inside the .rar file) in the "PSP/GAME/" folder of the memory stick.
    • Disconnect the PSP from the PC

Now that you have everything set, time to run the 6.20 TN-C!

    III. Running the 6.20 TN-C.
    • From the XMB(main screen of the PSP), run "TN Homebrew Enabler" and you're all done!
      Spoiler:

Check the system information if you want to make sure in "settings->system settings->system information".
      Spoiler:

You can now run most of the homebrew and with a little bit of work, you can load (legally backed up)ISO games as well.

    IV. ISO LOADING
Depending on the PSP you now have 3 choices:

    A)Downgrade to 5.03 and install 5.03 GEN-C + prometheus

WARNING! Downgrading to 5.03 is risky for PSP GO or 4g PSP 3000, it has not been tested yet and their motherboard may NOT support it, resulting in a brick! You can check if you have a 4g PSP 3000 here. You have been warned!

List of possible downgrade depending on the PSP model.

    B)Use the ISO loader for 6.20 TN-C.

    C)Use the ISO tool v1.960 for 6.20 TN-C

With the prometheus ISO loader you just have to do the installation process once but you have to run it every time you want to load a game. With the ISO tool you have to do the process once for each game but then you can run the game as many times as you want directly from the XMB with no more trouble. ISO tool is also useful for patching games so you may want to install it anyway. It's up to you!

IV.A. Downgrading to 5.03 OFW- INSTALLING 5.03 prometheus.
    • Connect the PSP with the PC.
    • Download the original 5.00 version.txt
    • Unzip the file. Connect the PSP with the PC and copy the "version.txt" to the "seplugins" folder of the memory stick. If there isn't one, create it in the root of the memory stick.
    • Download the 5.03 OFW and place the eboot.pbp in the "PSP/GAME/UPDATE" folder. Disconnect the PSP.
    • Press "restart VSH" from the same menu.
      Spoiler:

    • After it restarts, load the 5.03 update from the "game" menu in XMB.
The PSP will think it has 5.00 OFW and will update normally. You are now in 5.03 OFW.
    • Follow this guide to install 5.03 gen C + prometheus(section IX. Hacking a PSP 3000 and PSP 2000(only with the TA088V3 motherboard!)
Special note: If you have a PSP 1000 or 2000 WITHOUT the TA088v3 motherboard, you can install a PERMANENT hack like 5.00 m33-6 or 5.50 GEN following the same guide!

IV.B.INSTALLING THE PROMETHEUS ISO LOADER FOR 6.20 TN-C.

This enables you to load LEGALLY backed up games. However, the 5.03 GEN C does not need an ISO loader, hence it is better IF your PSP can be safely downgraded.

    • Connect the PSP with the PC
    • Download the Prometheus ISO Loader. Unzip it and copy the entire "Prometheus_Iso_loader" to "PSP/GAME/"
    • Create an ISO folder in the root of the memory stick and copy any ISO game you want to play there.
    • Disconnect the PSP and launch the prometheus ISO loader from the "game" in XMB
      Spoiler:

    • In the next screen, select the game you want to load.
      Spoiler:

IV.C. ISO LOADING WITH ISO TOOL V1.960

    • Connect the PSP with the PC.
    • Download ISO tool v1.960.
    • Extract the .rar somewhere in the PC and navigate into iso_tool/PSP/GAME/. In there, you will find a folder also named "iso_tool". Copy that folder into PSP/GAME folder of the memory stick.
    • Remember to copy your desired ISO game(s) to the ISO folder of the memory stick too!
    • Disconnect the PSP from the PC.
    • From the XMB run the ISO tool.

      Spoiler:

The following steps should only be carried out if the game is unpatched
    • Select your game by pressing "x" and choose the "EBOOT decrypt" option. If you still have the ISO game in the PC do not make a backup in the next screen.
      Spoiler:

    • Choose "yes" in the version patch and select start
      Spoiler:

    • Select your game again, only this time choose "patch prometheus". Find the "prometheus4/" option and start the process
      Spoiler:

      Spoiler:

      -END OF PATCHING PROCESS-

    • Select your game and choose "Make XMB-ICON". Press yes and you are done! You can run the game from the XMB as many times as you want!
      Spoiler:

You are all done! Enjoy your games!

5.03 GEN-C is better at the moment. Downgrade using this tutorial:

Make sure your battery is fully charged and you don't turn off your psp during downgrade.

I have the Persona 3P .iso at ms0:/Iso/, and there are now two icon's on the XMB after I did the steps above (iso_tool 1.960). One icon seems like the full game (the size is over a gig), while the other is only 300 KB. I think the 300 KB is the icon iso_tool made, yet when I click it, it just shows the root of the game, and under that it says NP9660 mode, then returns to XMB.

So in other words, when I click on this small-sized icon, the PSP logo goes, and then a black screen followed by white text:

    (Root of game)
    NP9660 Mode

then returns to XMB without any error.

the other bigger-sized icon works, but its not patched or anything (I think, right?). I heard that its doesn't work fully in game though.

    What do I do?

    I have a 3001: 5.03 Prom-3, and I followed the iso_tool section above exactly.

If u have 5.03 prom u dont need to create short cuts to the iso using iso tool. How do u know its not patched? U don't do u? If it loads, play the game and worry about it later.

Using iso Tool to create shortcuts to the iso from the xmb is intended for 6.x hen based PSP systems
