Default Backing up UMD to memory stick using ISO Tool

I have seen a lot of users asking how to back up UMD to memory stick. Here is a short tutorial on how to do it.

There are a number of ways to do it. In this guide, I am using ISO tool to dump a UMD onto my memory stick.

    Requirement

    - A psp with any form of CFW ( 5.00M33 or 5.50 GEN or 5.03 GEN or 5.03 MHU or 6.20 TN)
    - UMD
    - Memory stick with atleast 2gb free space
    - ISO Tool

    Steps

    - Download ISO Tool

    - Extract the file

    - Navigate to iso_tool/PSP/GAME/

    - Copy the iso_tool folder which you see in iso_tool/PSP/GAME/

    - Connect your psp to your pc via usb cable and paste iso_tool folder to PSP/GAME/

    - Disconnect your psp

    - Insert the UMD that you want to back-up

    - Navigate to Game - Memory Stick and launch ISO Tool

    - In the home screen it will display [UMD DRIVE]

    - Click On X button

    - Another small window called UMD MENU opens on the right side with two options
    1. ISO Convert
    2. CSO Convert

    - Select ISO Convert and press X

    - It will now take you to a screen where you have to type out the name in which you wish to save the ISO. In this case, I type ridge racer2 and hit the start button twice

    - Now, it will ask for another confirmation

    - Select Yes and press the X button

    - Now the ripping process starts. It will take around 5-15 minutes, depending on the size of the game

    - You will get a message saying " Finished. Press X button."

    - At this point you have successfully backed up the UMD to your memory stick...

    - Exit ISO Tool and navigate to Game - Memory stick to locate the backed up game:

Post here if you have any questions.

Very useful. I was going to do one but never managed to get it to work, every time I clicked start, it would return an error message in Japanese. The last time I tried was on a 3k using TN-c

do you guys rename the file?
one of my games had this problem my dissidia and my Final Fantasy 20th collectors ed.

Kept the name at the Game ID and it worked for me
although it did take a couple of tries with my dissidia to actually get it backed up and running proper with jus the isotool
this is the faster method it seems i have yet to try out the cs0 feature of it
any comments on weather this is a good idea to do to compress it or just leave it at full iso for speed

Thanks guys..Glad you like the tutorial .

@odin2free - yes, its better to leave the game as an ISO if you have enough space on ur memory stick..Plus its much faster to convert it to ISO..

Pretty sure this doesn't work on PSP 3000s as soon as I click on ISO or CSO convert and try to type the name in it gives me a bunch of Japanese letters as an error code and tells me to hit X

The error occured when trying to rip FF tactics, Monster Hunter Freedom unite, the new God of War psp game, and a few others.
