It'll most likely be expensive and will not prevent a ban

An educated guess would say yes, because it plugs in between the DVD drive and the motherboard to EMULATE the DVD drive through Linux O/S. There is no disc in the drive either when using this device. I would say, at the very least, the drive won't have to mechanically work.

Only thing that worries me about this is the chance of getting banned, but I think it would be great for people who have a spare xbox that doesn't connect to xbl.

Just like with everything else... There would be no reason to think any different with this device. They have not promised or said anything about Live with this device, so you MUST assume the same deal with CFW in the DVD drive.

As stated a billion times before, AT YOUR OWN RISK; and, yeah, two boxes, one for on-line the other NOT. I have five 360s in my house, so I am good 2 can be on-line, the other three, nope...
