Default Reading & Flashing The Slim Liteon 9504/0272 Drive (Pre-13141 Dashboard)

Guide property of Team-Xecuter, written by Ubergeek.

*This tutorial is done with the X360USB PRO. If you are using the SATA Card & CK3 Pro setup, then you will need to select the appropriate I/O and COM ports within Jungleflasher.

NOTE: If you are using a VIA SATA Card or have a VIA Chipset to flash your drive, you MUST remove the drivers. This is to stop the freezing issues during the process in Jungleflasher. Refer to page 155 of the Jungleflasher Tutorial if you are unsure how to do this.

Spoiler for Tip For X360USB Pro Users:

With X360USB PRO you don't need CK3 Pro drivers, you don't have to use any COM ports (if you don't want the "no Com Ports" message showing up when you boot Jungle Flasher then simply save and run this reg file) and you don't have to have any PortIO stuff installed so no F8 or Driver signing disabled or any of that crap any more (simply tick the USB Only button and all the PortIO stuff gets disabled / ignored) - just ignore all that as it's the old way of doing things - X360USB PRO takes care of ALL of it.

The following tutorial will take you through the simple process of communicating with a Samsung TS-H943 MS25 DVD Drive using Jungle Flasher and an X360USB PRO adapter.

    • Xecuter X360USB Pro or SATA Card
    • A DVD Drive Power source (the tutorial uses an Xecuter CK3 Pro - you can use an Xecuter CK3 Lite too of course)
    • Sata Cable (Supplied with X360USB Pro)
    • USB Cable (Supplied with X360USB Pro)
    • Latest version of Jungle Flasher
    • X360USB PRO Windows Drivers
    • Windows XP / Vista / 7 - 32bit or 64bit

    WARNING About AUX Power Cable:
The X360USB PRO comes with an AUX Power cable. This is NOT to be used unless it is required. Your X360USB PRO will function with no problems on 99% of USB ports as they have a 500ma output. A tiny amount of USB ports only carry 100ma. The AUX Power is supplied as a worst case scenario for those instances (you would plug it into a USB capable power supply unit such as the iPod's power brick). DO NOT use the AUX Power cable if your computer supports 500ma as you may cause damage to your X360USB PRO. The best way to test is it just set everything up to see if drivers install, jungle flasher detects the drive etc.

Here is an example of the Liteon DG-16D4S DVD label. As you can see we have highlighted the F/W version - in this case it is the 9504.

Before you connect everything you first need to install the X360USB Pro Drivers. These are signed and work in Windows XP / Vista / 7 both 32bit and 64bit. Download the small driverpack and plug in the X360USB PRO USB Cable. When it asks for the drivers simple point to the files you saved and they will install with ease. You are now ready to hook everything else up.

It's very easy to hook up your Liteon DG-16D4S to your PC. Simply connect the DVD power supply (in this case the Xecuter CK3 Pro) to the DVD drive (take care to make sure it is fitted the correct way - the wrong way can damage your drive) and to a molex power cable from your PC or from an external Molex power supply. Then connect the SATA cable from the DVD drive to the X360USB Pro, and then connect the USB cable from the X360USB Pro to a USB port on your Netbook/Notebook/Laptop/Desktop computer.

Remember that you need to be running at least v18 of the X360USB PRO firmware, and that needs to be flashed with at least v0.12 of the X360USB PRO Update Tool. If you don't the latest JF will not work with Slims.

OK we are ready to begin:

    1. Load up Jungle Flasher and...

    (1) Select the MTK Flash 32 Tab
    (2) Make sure the I/O Port is set to 0x000 (Change as necessary for your SATA card)
    (3) The X360USB pro should be detected as Primary Master and the Firmware version will be displayed (in this case it is Ver 0.18)
    (4) The Liteon DG-16D4S should be detected and ready to work with
    (5) Slim should be auto detected. If it isn't - select it.

    2. Now we need to put the drive into Vendor Mode.

    (1) Click the Slim UnLock button
    (2) The drive is now in vendor Mode

    3. Now to read the firmware from the drive. Simply click on the Read button.

    4. You will be asked to save the firmware file. I just created a directory called 9504 in the JF folder on the C: drive and saved it there.

    5. Once the drives firmware has been read Jungle Flasher will ask you if you want to auto-load the LT+ iXtreme firmware. Click Yes.

    6. Everything is now loaded into Jungle Flasher and you are ready to go. Let's explain whats happening on the screen at the moment.

    (1) The source buffer is loaded with the firmware from your Liteon Slim drive. It shows here that it is 9504 Stock Firmware
    (2) This is your DVD key - always keep this safe !
    (3) This is the LT-Plus firmware auto loaded into the target buffer

    7. Now you are ready to program your drive. Go to the MTK Flash 32 tab and click the Slim Unlock button again.

    8. Now click the Write button.

    9. As you can see there are more complex steps to this process than Phat drive methods. All the key / inquiry / serial areas are being verified to make sure your flash is as safe as possible. When everything is good to go it will say "Authorised !"

    10. Success ! From beginning to end with a X360USB PRO it should take no more than 60 seconds

ok great tutorial , but what is this for exactly?

does it just get you drive key and unlock it? or does it actually flash the custom lt+ fw to the drive that lets you play backups?or is there another step for that?

i dont get what happens when you do this step?

"5. Once the drives firmware has been read Jungle Flasher will ask you if you want to auto-load the LT+ iXtreme firmware. Click Yes."

does JF connect to the internet and get the lt+ fw version from the xbinxs website by it self? and what if there is more than 1 version? and you want to install a certain one?

i thought that you had to go to xbins first and find and download the version of the lt+ fw for your specific drive/drives fw ,like lt+ 1.1 that is specific for your drive first and then put it in a directory ,like the directory path in the picture, where it says c:\JF\FW\

cause in the picture it just says LTplus 9504 but it doesnt say a version # like 1.0 or 1.1 or 1.9

why not? how do you know which version it is flashing then?
or how would you select which version you want if there is more than 1 ? would you have to do it manually, and select auto or answer yes when it asks to auto-load the fw ?

or is it just assumed in this tutorial that you already downloaded the fw you want to use from xbins and put it in the director in the picture?

i never used JF before ,as if thats not obvious i have no clue ,but i would assume you need to go to xbins and download the fw you wan to flash and put it in the c:\JF\FW directory ,and that it has to be the only file or bin file in there right?

sorry for some reason google chrome sucks and double posts over and over and over again whenever your on a forum and hit the back button after you post,i dont know why this POS does this ,none of my other browsers do ,but the new firefox sucks so bad i cant even use anymore since i updated, itwas my browser of choice
